But then we'd also need a male swordswoman. :hmm:
Tiedäthän kuinka pelataan.
Tiedäthän, vihtahousua vastaan.
Tiedäthän, solmu kravatin, se kantaa niin synnit
kuin syntien tekijätkin.

thespaceinvader wrote:Including good portraits in mainline is worthwhile when they fit a current unit, IMO, but including them on the offchance someone might use them for a character seems a little over the top.
Why?
We include lots of art resources that aren't part of mainline-- at least not when they were added, including:
  • terrain,
    units,
    scenery,
    items,
    flags
In all these areas of art if i judge something to be generally useful and of sufficient quality i add it, weather or not any mainline campaign/era needs it. I believe this has generally been the practice. Portraits take up more kbs, but i think the difference is significant enough to warrant a totally different treatment.

I'd say a the female swordsman portrait even if it's not attached to a unit would be seen much more frequently than a portrait for something like the giant scorpion or sea serpent.
Feel free to PM me if you start a new terrain oriented thread. It's easy for me to miss them among all the other art threads.

I don't mind either way to be honest, that's just been the practice I had in mind.

Is that the same artist again? I'm certain we could use that as a mermaid initiate alt.

Good god if I didn't know better I'd swear on my life that kitty did that portrait. We need this artist in wesnoth if only for his amazing skill at simulating established styles.

It will be, once I've had a chance to ask kitty exactly what she wants it committed as - it would be better than the current initiate, but it doesn't have the staff. If I haven't seen her by the end of the week, i'll make an executive decision and do this.

:o Man, that Santiago Iborra is some artist. Not only does he make awesome artwork, he's also capable of mimicking kitty's style unbelievably closely. I really hope this artist will think about contributing to Wesnoth when he's done helping eyerouge with WTactics.

EDIT: Changed 'he/she' to 'he', as per shadowmaster's point below.
