It looks like the head is strongly illuminated, but there isn't really any shadow in the neck below the jaw.

The eye is rather hard to pick out from the rest of his head.

Is it in any way based on ALIEN?

No, more on a chameleon head, actually. And it doesn't (or it's not supposed to) have eyes.

Lighting may need work. I'm curious to see how the rest of the unit looks. Will it be a two-legs type freak?

Hmm, I guess I could go with that (it would be easier than creating a humanoid body, as I don't have to get the right proportions :P ).

But I'm getting kinda tired of generating random units. Does anyone need a sprite for their campaign hero or monster or something that you wouldn't mind me having a go at? I like making pixel art, but I prefer to have a purpose to it.

EDIT: More random art, a sci-fi metallic bump that shoots lightning. :P

Perhaps you could check on specific campaigns instead of posting it in your own thread; I know a lot of units lack death animations in mainline. You could go for some of that if you want a go at it.

There's a better chance for them to find you that way anyhow.

Heh, I can occasionally pull off a decent sprite, but I'm horrible at animating, so my attempts at death animations would be big-time awful (that's not to say I won't try at some point, if I can ever work up the courage :P ). But you're right about the campaign threads vs this thread, thanks for the advice there. :)

I could probably fit that lightening lamp into a scenario I'm working on... May I try?

You mean someone can actually use that thing? :P By all means, if you feel like you can use it, feel free. I doubt anyone else wants it.

I wouldn't out your complete trust in finding something to sprite on campaign threads - I imagine campaign authors have so simultaneous demands on their time searching out artists drops off the priority list. I found a few good opportunity to help the art of a campaign by actually playing them until I saw a place holder image.

Yes! Someone offering to do art!

Here it is, I know it's really weird: :P

A Winged Ogre.

...an ogre that a necromancer merged with a gryphon. Currently as a placeholder I am using a horrible frankenstein of ogre+gryphon.

Yeah, frighteningly bad art...

The weapon should be a scythe. And about lvl 2-3 size. It's a secondary-hero unit in my campaign.

Think you can do that? :)

Sure, I'll give it a shot, though I can't promise anything... I've never tried wings before. But I'll do my best. :)

Then it'll be good practice. :)

It doesn't have to be perfect, really as long as it's better than my frankenstein it's good enough for me. :P

Thanks! :D
