The magenta shield... i think i need to call out to the community for help with. I struggle to colour large flat areas well, which is why i usually break them up with something, but i couldn't for this one.

And the legs...they're kind of a mix between digigrade feet and an old style of spring-loaded shoe i once saw similar to the prostheses used by amputee runners. With armoured thigh plates which are, of course, part of the unit. It was kind of accidental that they came out that way, but now that they have, i kinda like them =D

Bionic (on which note, not a good name IMHO. Bionic sounds too high-tech.) was inspired by me saying that a good look might be lots of tentacles. I was just running with it really. it'll almost certainly change. And it's probably getting a metallic makeover. I might keep the giant head, though.

Shadow Slicer prelim. Kinda inspired by the deathblade.

EDIT: Chaos Slicer prelims. As previously mentioned, mostly just a collage of bits of the level 0 slicers, with armour plates (because one of the AMLAs has them) taken and edited from the Bronze.

I might fiddle with the saturation a bit. All those colours look kinda clashy together, so lowering the saturation should make them less of a visual explosion.

Red slicer attack. 4 Frames, probably equal timing, around 100 ms each. I intend, eventually, to do at least one more animation using the other 'fist' to attack, but this will do until i've gotten all the other animations sorted.

His back legs should move a little bit more.

I'd recommend his Right side front "slicer" and back "slicer" move forward. While is Left side front "slicer" stays mostly in place (rotating and possibley leaning forward) and his back left "slicer push off a little bit to give some added momentum.

Over all, the central "fog mass" of the slicer could move further forward, giving a more aggressive feel to the attack.

Also, givent he lack of human form most slicers have, perhaps the shadow slicer could be more of a semi-transparent, low to ground blob with tendrils ending in triangular points. When attack the tendrils could lengthen and lash out, in sequence or all at once.

Bugger, i forgot to move the fog for the later frames >.< I meant to... There's a lot of layers in these images...

As a hint, the big bits on the front are legs...

And i'll probably use something a little more like that for the final Bionic slicer.

Thanks for the crit.

EDIT: new version with fixed fog. I'm leaving the back legs as they are, though, mainly cos i'm not certan what to do with them. I actually think they look OK as they are, though how they'll look in-game might be different. And you'll have to excuse the fact that the fog looks a bit small in this version - stupid gif format and its binary transparency...

You know, its almost a shame for him to have two bashers and only one of them for his attack. Is it possible that they merge and come down like a hammer? Or maybe just in rapid succession?

I think i already said, i intend to make an alternate animation for each weapon on each unit in due time, but i want to get ONE animation for each attack and each unit's defence frame down first. So eventually, both bashers will be used (i'm hoping to have the second one do an uppercut =D), as will all 4 blades on yellow etc etc. But for now, each unit gets one single attack animation for each attack it has/can have, just to get a working set of art done.

Blue attack animation. 5 frames. Scuttles forward, and bites with the jaws for a pierce attack.

I'm not absolutely certain about some of it, particularly the scuttling action, but it's good enough for government work.

It looks like he leaves his hind legs behind, and then they move quickly to catch up. Is that on purpose?

Like i said, i wasn't quite sure about the scuttle. I think it will look better as the unit moves forward during the attack in-game, but i haven't had the chance to test it yet.

Lol, it will get animated eventually. Shouldn't be TOO hard, either, since every single bit of it is on a separate layer, and i can steal the animations from the source units when i do them...
