How to use scenario map as campaign's main map?

Is it possible to do that?

Use one unit to represent player's army, place it on campaign's main map, enter scenario when attack/attacked by other unit. Pass npc unit type/level/etc. parameters to initialize scenario.

When this scenario ends, come back to the main map, all other units' states remain the same, except the two units engaged. The loser will be wiped out from main map.

Is there any campaign or WML script have made this feature?

look at bad moon rising. part 2 and 3 are doing this I think.

The Altaz Mariners does something similar, allowing you to move a single ship unit around a world map and giving you the choice where to go and which islands to land on. Each island is a scenario in itself, there's also random mini battles against other ships. Sort of what you're looking for?
