ASCII text editor

Post by goblinThing »

I cannot find a text editor that will work to both read and save wesnoth code while maintaining formatting. notepad makes everything one long string; no paragraph breaks.

Any suggestions as to a text editor that will function properly?

Thank you.

I use Notepad++ and I often hear people recommend it as a text editor, although I think it's Windows-only. Never had any problems modifying Wesnoth files with it.

WordPad if you're lazy to install. Notepad++ is probably the best. If you're a Linux user, you can use gedit.

You might be curious to read about WML syntax highlighting plug-ins for various text editors.

(I personally use Textmate 2, but speaking of Notepad++ I created a port of it for OS X 10.6+.)
