ai ignoring ambush
Does the ai still ignore ambush?
Or do i have to trigger this manually?

Re: ai ignoring ambush
Yes and no...
The AI does cheat by knowing about every unit the opponent has (even the hidden ones), but it doesn"t know the position of the hidden ones.
Btw it's also quite good at searching the position of the units it did previously see, so it gives that impression it can see through ambush but in fact it's not the case.

Re: ai ignoring ambush
If an enemy moves their Elvish Ranger into one patch of forest and it disappears, I do not magically forget where they moved it.
I'm just... a guy...
I'm back for now, I might get started on some work again.

Maybe the facts you explain aren't true for the leader?
In this savegame, played with svn1.5.2+ the ai is chasing the leader like normal.
