Algrean Faction, 2

Post by Foxwolf »

First things first: I am in very early stages of development, mainly just the tree and stats, as soon as I finish my afinian faction completly I will really start working on this one.

Now as some of you may or may not know, the Afinians will be part of a continent (Algrea) which will contain several other factions (if you want to include one of yours pm me) and will be packaged into an mp era, now back to the point: I am working on the second faction for Algrea.
The name is Borgat (Borgati=plural) and it will be a mythical based one, anyway onto the tree:

Code: Select all

Giant->Overlord->Titan
-------------->Cyclops->Triclops

Sprite->Pixie->Faerie->Alven
-------------->Fae

Shaman->Healer->Light-Bringer
---------->Druid

Fighter->Warrior->War-Bringer

Noble->Prince->King->Emperor
Although Triclops doesn't exist in any mythology I am still keeping it ;) Any suggestions and or constructive critiscism is welcomed*

*Except complaining about how I can't handle two factions at once, and about my triclops.

Djinns are already included in the Kedari... just a thought.

I don't think that really solves it... besides, we're also already using the name Efreet (although with a different spelling).

Since the Cyclops and Titans are Greek, and the Djinn is IIRC Persian, I would advise ditching the line altogether.

Also, I have no objections to the idea of a Triclops, but I fail to see why a Cyclops would advance into one.

And, I'm not saying it is impossible to handle two factions at once (I'm doing it), but I do think you should finish the art for one before you start on the other...

Ah well I'm not starting art on this one till I finish art on the other one... And as for the Djinn part I will drop it and replace it with my previous faerie line :)

What attacks, abilities, etc. would these proposed units possess?
In summation, you're wrong.

Finished the stats for the giant line:

Code: Select all

Giant:
HP: 50
Moves: 4
XP: 70
Cost: 37
Attacks: Bash-Impact 17x3, Slam-Impact 24x2

Code: Select all

Overlord:
HP: 75
Moves: 5
XP: 100
Cost: N/A
Attacks: Bash-Impact 22x4, Crush-Impact 30x2

Code: Select all

Titan:
HP: 100
Moves: 6
XP: 150
Cost: N/A
Attacks: Falchion-Blade 27x4, Crush-Impact 35x2

Code: Select all

Cyclops:
HP: 80
Moves: 6
XP: 150
Cost: N/A
Attacks: Gaze-Magical 18x3, Crush-Impact 25x2

Code: Select all

Triclops:
HP: 110
Moves: 7
XP: 200
Cost: N/A
Attacks: Gaze-Magical 20x3, Crush-Impact 27x2 (berserker)
I know it's a bit overpowering, but keep in mind the cost is relatively large...

Are you sure you want the triclops to have berserk? I'd say it violates RIPLIB when he advances from cyclops, although you could argue that you could have picked the other line on reaching 2nd level. However, keep in mind that berserk works on defense, too... he'd be very vulnerable on bad terrain. You might want to consider giving him a charge attack instead...

Very strong attacks...If you don´t want them overpowered, give them bad resistance or defense(or both; you see what happens with bad defense on dwarves)

Ah yes, but I hoped to balance it with high cost, oh and I might replace berserk with charge...oh and if it's too strong anyway I'll lower defense and resitance a tad ;)

You could balance them with low hitpoints?

But that wouldn't make sense? I mean how could a puny earthling slay a TITAN easily? I mean come on! But to balance it maybe I'll make a few of the other units a little weaker ;)

You could create the era now with testing graphics wich are not good and see how it´s balanced. But if you play against the computer(2p), you should give him 25 more gold, or you will think they are overpowered everytime.(computer is a bad player)

Ok, but I really am too busy with the afinians to go to all that trouble...for now I'll just make the stats and tree and when I'm done with afinians I will really start developing :)
