Sound like a pretty good idea. If you really want to make it look like a board game, make it a certain shape and put wood floor tiles around the side, giving it the impression that it's a board on a surface.

Each faction should have a special unit, to make it more unique.

US should get the Marines.
Europe should get Eurofighters.
UK should get the Special Air Service.
Soviets should get the Spetsnaz.

But... All of them are Commandos, more or less. They would work on pretty much the same rules.

Well, maybe instead just have slightly different stats and looks for their units? Just if they were all clones it would be dull.

I have found that getting just terrain to import into the game is next to impossible. I cant find a decent tutorial. if anyone wants to point me in the right direction. I have some overlays already done (right now they are probably temporary) but I want to get them into the map editor with the attributes wml files working.

As the writer of the second link I would like to add that if it is not sufficient to let you create most new terrains, don't hesitate to point out problems so I can correct them.
