I am happy to hear that ;)

I am going to replace old graphics, add new units, two factions and make it all balanced. When it is done, the era will be finished :)

The new version of the Era is now available (0.12)

Code: Select all

Changes:
-the Slicer's exp was raised (45->100);
-the Fanatic's hp is now 32 (not 38), his movement points were reduced from 6 to 5;
-the Goblin Runt costs 8 gold instead of 10;
-the Goblin Fighter costs 10 gold instead of 12;
-the Goblin Soldier's melee attack is 8-3 (not 6-3);
-the Troll Sorcerer's ranged attack is now 5-3 instead of 4-3;
-the Roc Rider's exp was decreased (90->60);
-the Jinn's exp was decreased (90->60);
-the Dread Bat movement type changed (fly->smallfly);
-the Chaos Hydra has -10% arcane resistance instead of -20%;
-the Great Warlock's ranged attack modified (18-2 -> 12-3);
-the Great Warlock's melee attack now deals impact and blade damage;
-the Master of Darkness's implosion spell modified (25-2 -> 17-3);
-the Master of Darkness's melee attack now deals impact and blade damage;
-both the Fire Elemental and Fire avatar have better graphics;

The Era of Magic v. 0.2.0 released!

I replaced old graphics in the Enlightened Ones faction, created new units and changed some statistics and animations.

-new, better graphics for Enlightened Ones;
-new, amazing attack animations;
-new units: the Master of Elements (lvl4 - advances from Mastermage), Deadly Eye (lvl1 - advances from Magical Eye), Abyss Mage (lvl3 - advances from Black Mage);
-Masters of Fire, Water and Air and Master of Elements can summon elementals now;
-the same masters have more attack configurations;
-the Guru can summon Golems;
-the Heavy Summoner and Neutral Summoner can summon Rhamis;
-Mystic Mu is lvl3 (changed statistics);
-the Golem has 5 death animations (fire, cold, holy, blade, impact);
-decreased xp amounts in almost all units in the era.

This is amazing, things looks great! I am impressed with the attack animations.

Strange. In my version it does. Try to download the era again.

And thanks for all those comments. The era looks nice, but it is a lot of work with making animations and art. But it's worth doing it.

The post was a while ago, and I wasn't able to edit: does 0.2.0 work on 1.6? I'm re-downloading Era of Magic from add-ons, and it says I'm downloading 0.2.0

EDIT:

...And now, after I'm done redownloading 0.2.0, it works fine. For some reason, when your era came out, my update addons thing didn't work (I know this because I was updating addons every time I opened and closed Wesnoth, which was a lot yesterday): the version I was playing had Elementalists upgrading into White Mages, there were only Flankers or Trashers or whatever they were instead of the Hidden Face, and no Deadly Eyes.

Well, now I'm playing your updated era. Can't wait to see those animations :D.

Any chance of seeing new barbarian berserker with a level 2 upgrade in the future? There is no incentive to recruit such a unit if there is no growth potential, his kills will just steal other units' xp. Since it is already very strong, the level 2 can just have more hp and a little bit of tweak. Such as give it marksman weapon special for the berserk attack. Oh, by the way, the ability "cleave" used in the Mercenary era would be a great add on for some barbarian fighter line (including the berserker's normal attack), this kind of things makes them more like barbarians. The standard era dwarf ulf have 4x7 or 4x8 attack when it is level 2, with a good resistance. Making it marksman and cleave would not make it overly powerful compare to standard era as their resistance is not as high and attack not as strong.

Yes. The Barbarians will be the next faction to rework. The ability "Cleave"? I'll check it. All suggestions about this faction (also the ones posted in the past) will be consider. :)

The Barbarians are very good in melee combat, but this is going to change. People tell me, that Golblins are useless and I decided to change their unit tree. There will be more archers and special units like Gobbos calling Roc Riders; and War Banners. Also all Cyclops will be modified. I am going to give them ranged attacks (like the Fire Cyclop has).

Edit:
I saw the "cleave" ability and I like it. ;)

There are problems with Ageless Era, when both eras are installed, Era of MAgic doesn't work correct.

I suggest you to ask mnewton1 about the problem, because this is not my fault. He borrows my units, so if something goes wrong in AE (but EoMa works fine) this must be a problem with his era, not mine.

Great, once you have a storyline for campaign and finalized units, I can help to translate them into Chinese. (slowly over time.) There is a growing Chinese community playing wesnoth and this is definitely the era they should not miss out.
