[STATUS] [DONE] Add-ons server migration
(Originally posted as [STATUS] Scheduled add-ons downtime for 15:00 UTC TODAY)
Hi there!
As you might or might not know, the 1.8 and ‘trunk’ add-ons server instances on wesnoth.org are currently unavailable. The add-ons web is also lagging behind.
As part of an ongoing migration effort, we are going to switch the 1.10 and 1.11 add-ons server instances on wesnoth.org today at 15:00 UTC to read-only mode, meaning that all requests to upload or delete add-ons will be rejected by the server. Meanwhile, these instances (plus 1.8 and ‘trunk’) will be made available in regular operation mode on a different host to which all users will have access as DNS caches around the world catch up with our changes. This means that the exact length of the add-ons server downtime pretty much depends on DNS relays such as those provided by most Internet Service Providers. Add-on authors will know when the new server is reachable for them once they stop getting an error message when attempting to upload add-ons.
NOTE: Only the following hostnames for the add-ons client will be able to connect to the server after these changes:

Re: [STATUS] Add-ons server migration
The add-ons server instances have been migrated. Content authors connecting to the old server (either because their DNS servers aren’t up to date with the changes or because they are not using one of the six official names from the post above) will see the following notice when attempting to upload or remove content:
As usual, it may take a while for changes to be take effect worldwide. Consider this a forced vacation from uploading loads and loads of bugfix releases of your add-ons.
Players who solely download content should not be concerned about any of this.
Code: Select all
The server is currently in read-only mode, add-ons uploads are disabled.
Players who solely download content should not be concerned about any of this.

Re: [STATUS] [DONE] Add-ons server migration
Since almost seven days have passed, all read-only instances on the old server have been shut down. Once again, if you are using a name other than the following in the Add-ons dialog in the game, you won’t get very far:
Locked.
- add-ons.wesnoth.org (default configuration shipped with the game) and add-on.wesnoth.org
- addons.wesnoth.org and addon.wesnoth.org
- campaigns.wesnoth.org and campaign.wesnoth.org
Locked.
