First of all, I would say that there is too much sand.
Then I think that you should make Spain a little bigger, and that you put more hills on Italy.
It is strange that you put a castle in Scandinavia and not in Paris, but that's not a big problem.
I wouldn't put that much woods north of Paris.
Concerning geographic things, France should be a little larger on the south (the town where I live would be at the sea shore on your map while it really isn't), and you forgot the Netherlands, Corsica, and northern Scandinavia doesn't exactly have a good shape.

Other than that, it isn't bad.

It seems like players 4 and 5 will be at a disadvantage due to their closeness and ease of contact. The other keeps seem to be a little more isolated.
Hope springs eternal.

Agreed. At this scale, you can get away with ignoring sandy beaches, and probably should.

ABSOLUTELY! Spain is much too small. As to putting more hills in Italy, that would not be possible without rearranging and/or eliminating some of Italy's castle tiles.

In fact, given the scale, I would suggest giving each nation a smaller castle, perhaps three or four spaces rather than six. At the least, it would give you more room for geographical details!

On this point I will differ from Tux. If this is based on ancient or medieval Europe, it needs more forest rather than less.

It may be that the scale is too small to do them justice.

I could complain about Greece and Turkey too, but again the scale may be too small to do them justice.

Some people made comments about places not being the right size...but I imagine the point of this map is not to be an exact replica of Europe. So you can be realistic or not! It depends on whether that is your intention or not.

I think the biggest problem with it is all the water and ice at the top of the map that isn't really going to come into play. It is mostly unused where it is now.
Don't go to Glowing Fish for advice, he will say both yes and no.

Actually, you're not using the totality of the map. All the northern part remains mostly unused. Adding Iceland (with villages) would partly resolve this.

if u want to avoid having lots of water remake the map and make it wider :Pinstead of taller :P which would make more sense since thats the way europe is no offense :P
Gryphon riders should look like gryphons with a dwarf on its back not a badger or dwarf in a canooe!

You should find a hyposometrci map of Europe, then put a hexes on it. Then you should mark each hex as either deep shallow grass, hills or mountains. Then if you want to padd reasonable amount of forests, you need to take some map with forests marked, but not from XX/XXI century, but rather XIV-XVI when there were more forests.

Probably there's no point for me posting here, but i'll raise my PC to 1337 before leaving again ;P -- just kidding.

This map of Europe is a good idea... but...

Post by Lord_of_Wesnoth »

A Gallic castle (France) and in Baviera (Germany) would not be bad...

I think Ireland and Wales should contain more forest than you have, and Scotland more hills. Right now, the map is good but just has too much plain, open, unbroken grassland.

This is much better. The only thing that I think could be improved (added to what Flametrooper and Lord_of_Wesnoth said) would be to put some sand hills and some mountains in Turkey, and a little more hills in the Balkans.

I'm with Flametrooper on this one. The map is definitely better, but more forest spaces would definitely make it a more accurate representation of ancient or medieval Europe, assuming that's what you're trying to do.

Scotland and Wales should actually be hills or mountains, perhaps a small portion of swamp in Scotland and/or Ireland.
