Safari (OS X 10.5) using between 100% and 178% CPU on a core 2 duo 2.16ghz. Generally around 100 to 125%.
That's a lot of CPU for such a simple looking game.

Feel free to PM me if you start a new terrain oriented thread. It's easy for me to miss them among all the other art threads.

This is where 10.6 will offshoot more processing power to the graphics chip and where newer nightly builds will improve performance.MCP wrote:Safari (OS X 10.5) using between 100% and 178% CPU on a core 2 duo 2.16ghz. Generally around 100 to 125%.

This is probably the best online action game I've played. Not to mention it was made in java and html. Great speed and graphics.

I've actually played a lot game from newgrounds(such as Super Mario Crossover) but still I think this is one of the best.

It's not made in Java.

And the engine is as well.Phoboslab wrote:So what's the deal?
The game you (hopefully) see above is not done in Flash. It's pure HTML5 and Javascript. You don't need any Plugin to play, just a good Browser.
Re: Biolab Disaster - Flash-quality game written in pure HTM
Please note the difference between Java and JavaScript. These are different programming languages, which share nothing than part of the name and some syntactic superficialities.

Amongst other things, this game is helped by having some truly top-notch sprite art. It's a lot harder to do than it looks.dipseydoodle wrote:I've actually played a lot game from newgrounds(such as Super Mario Crossover) but still I think this is one of the best.

I couldn't get this to start up the first time I tried it, but having managed to get it to work the other day, it's pretty awesome. Quite an achievement, although the superlatives that have been applied to it are a little overstated. I've played better flash platformers. Just not with this sort of programming.

I thought the whoe point was that it isn't a flash platformer.thespaceinvader wrote:I've played better flash platformers.
