Game design & logo design talent sought
Wesnoth is certainly a treasure among all games included in Debian. It is solid, polished, fun, is backed by a large pool of designer & developer talent, and has a loyal and active user following. So naturally when the Debian Games group started discussing attracting game design talent, and creating a logo for the group, I thought of you, the Wesnoth community, as potential contributors. If this sounds like something you'd like to help with, please have a look at the following links.

Miriam's idea to attract game designer talent (note: since the topic was introduced, we've moved discussion to the revived debian-devel-games@lists.debian.org list):

Recent thread on logo design:

Miriam's notion of what we should be aiming for in a logo, which I happen to agree with:

Hmm, I read the design idea, and I can just imagine a couple a tux penguins standing around, one with a ton of guns (think rambo, but with more rocket launchers), one with medieval style weapons (maybe a knight) and one with another kind of game strapped to it (maybe a sim game, but I wouldn't know how to represent it). Then stick the word Debian on them, or between them.
I might even do a mock up, although somebody (possibly me if I get a brainwave) would have to think of the third one). Then again I/someone else might have another better idea *looks to creative people*

Note that Debian isn't necessarily GNU/Linux, there are other ports available, so tux isn't representative at all.Ranger M wrote:Hmm, I read the design idea, and I can just imagine a couple a tux penguins standing around, one with a ton of guns (think rambo, but with more rocket launchers), one with medieval style weapons (maybe a knight) and one with another kind of game strapped to it (maybe a sim game, but I wouldn't know how to represent it). Not that I don't like your idea, I just wanted to make it clear for future ideas

That's what I thought, but the idea came when reading this, so I assumed that I was wrong.Miriam on the last link wrote:About the first one, the only way I can think of, even when it might be too
easy, is using the swirl [1], or maybe going back to the historic penguin logo
of Debian [2]. If anyone can come out with a better way to represent Debian in
the logo, please tell, I'd really love to have something more creative.
