I also want to point out that some units don't have names – any generic undead unit, for example. I think usually the unit type is substituted in this case.

Anyway, this is honestly something that I would consider to be very important. While shoving it to the chat log would probably be acceptable (since single-player campaigns don't have actual chat anyway), it would be better to have a separate log for it. You'd also want to make sure there's a way to add text without a [message], as some campaigns may use other means to get things across (like a popup message).

This sounds like such a good idea, I vote for it being a primary goal for 1.16 or 1.17
I forked real life and now I'm getting merge conflicts.
