Yes it has been removed by default from upgrading for balance. (Though if you want it back you can use my add-on Reign of the Lords , it has a check box to enable all lvl 3 units to advance to higher levels )DwarvenWarrior wrote: ↑January 14th, 2020, 7:07 pm in my game the Arif can only be upgraded to lvl 3. Just unzip the archive and place it in your wesnoth folder (/Wesnoth 1.14/data/add-ons/).

For windows that would be: "C:\Users\YOUR_USER\Documents\My Games\Wesnoth 1.1x\data\add-ons\"
For other OS's see this webpage!

was the name change of the Khalifate to the Dunefolk political correctness?

Nope, it just did not make sense since the dunefolk are not Islamic. Sure they take inspiration from Caliphates and other countries that were similar to them, but they don't exist in wesnoth.
Also the loyalists take some inspiration from other medieval countries, but they have a unique name to suit this game; it did not make sense for the Khalifate to be named differently then the other human faction.
