"give up" or "resign" button in multiplayer

A "give up" or "resign" button in multiplayer would make a much better game experience. Especially if you play on the official servers. Because often players want to resign if the opponent have completely taken the mapcontrol and he is surrounded. The only thing they then can do is to say it in chat and leave the game.
It's just frustrating to win and get an aborting message

I don't propose a system that makes sure that there is always a winner or so. Just a possibility to say trough the game that someone wishes to resign.
Something like one button in the menu that automatically makes you defeated...

As I think about it now I'm not sure if this is only possible by killing the leader by script? Because it also needs to work on more than 1vs1 matches. So I'm not sure how to deal with the case when the computer would take over control...
Or would it be better to just reward any abort with a win-message?
hmmm... not that easy to introduce into existing code?

(hope it's not an FPI, haven't found something similar with a quick search, but the idea seems to be one that could be a regular one)

obviously not. seems that there are many words in English for the same thing, like e.g. "give up", "resign", "surrender"
