Re: What is everyone's favorite movie at the moment?

Post by ElvenKing »

Not a big fan of movies myself; I prefer a good TV series. But I can pull together some sort of list I suppose.
In no particular order:

LOTR trilogy
Princess Bride
Pixar films
Hot Fuzz
Serenity

I'm probably missed a few. And I am sure that I have not seen many good films. My film watching is rather lacking.

I've seen equilibrium, but I still don't find it as epic as minority report.

True, but parts of the sequel were hilarious.

Lol, but my favorite parts were the penguins and the granny scenes. :D

They're the true characters in the movie, I think. xD

Oh, indeed, the penguins are probably the only reason I bothered to see the second one since they were supposed to have a bigger role.

[Plane lands violently and the tires break off]
Skipper: I said kiss it!

I know, I was watching it earlier actually. Don't judge me.

Personally I thought they were better in the first one.

In the first one they WERE penguin commandos. They were actually capable of putting their money where skippers mouth was.

In the second movie and the cartoon I feel like they THINK they are commandos. They get some things right but they've been dumbed down. I particularly dislike the scene with the blinking fuel light.

*Gasp* Why? I thought that was pretty amusing actually, as it made me think of how soldiers I know generally respond to problems.

[Bulb on the fuel gauge is flashing]
Kowalski: Skipper, look.
Skipper: Analysis
Kowalski: It looks like a small incandescent bulb, designed to indicate something out of the ordinary, like a malfunction.
Skipper: I find it pretty and somewhat hypnotic.
Kowalski: That too sir.
Skipper: Right. Rico, Maunal!
[Catches the manual and smashes the bulb with it]
Skipper: Problemo solved.

I know that in the first one they might know what's going on, but then again they are not pilots... ;) They do rebuild the plane.

Madagascar 2 was a bit too cheesy for my tastes. I dunno, maybe its just me. Anyone seen the series?

Agree, but not only that.
I did see it and I thought that wasn't really Madagascar in the first place. I mean, for the whole movie you see the four main characters swirling around moral conflicts that nobody will surely care about, with no real good sketches/jokes scenes (less for the penguins and the granny).
All the movie pace has been radically slowed down, in favor of what? More conflicts? That's what it teaches to us? Being good with your friends?

Horrible in any manner. They could have just stopped to one movie instead of the classic bad sequel. :|

True, but to be fair, it's an animated movie that is actually focused on kids, and thus not in the line of movies like Shrek, where adults are part of the target audience.

Yeah, I thought the same thing, but they surely burned a great chance to hit the spotlights again, in my opinion.

You can't disappoint the penguins... :)
