My g/f got me The Logic of Steel for my birthday. It's fascinating. A night-shift grunt in a 24-hour grocery store in Baltimore (USA's murder capitol), amassed over 250 cases of violence and then broke down all of the stats for the ones involving weapons. There are a bunch of interesting results, from what will get you into legal trouble more often (much easier to get convicted for using a knife in an attack than a gun) to what will keep you alive.

Has anyone ever read any of the looking glass wars series. I have read the two that are out so far, and have thought of them as absolutely amazing. They took my mind on adventures. What great imagination are in those novels. But not too many people know of them?? I was just wondering.

After reading some childrens book about Death and Dying by Pernilla Stalfelt (a German review is available at my blog), I am now starting to read a few works by Neil Gaiman, in detail that is:

• Death: The High Cost Of Living (1993)
• Death: The Time Of Your Life (1996)
• The Graveyard Book (2008)

Re-Reading of Tolstoi is still pending due to lack of motivation.

Just finished The Screwtape Letters & Screwtape Proposes a Toast by C.S. Lewis.

The letters I did not enjoy extravagantly, perhaps it is because I am not a Christian. I did apreaciate (in a purely accademic fassion) his attempt to reconcile his particular brand of Idealist Philosophy with his particular flavor of Protestant Christianity. And his opinion on how rationality was important in belief.

Screwtape Proposes a Toast I did enjoy.
Particularly his "democracy" rant where he goes off about I'm as good as you.

Hi guys, I have been on vacation for a few days. Right now, I'm finishing a biography of Dirk Nowitzki, a German basketball player.

Rather short book though, because he is only 31 now.

I was told by a friend that I "absolutely have to read Ender's Game". I haven't even heard of it until she mentioned it, so I looked up the reviews. They were generally positive ones, but I wanted to hear anyone's opinion of the book on this forum, if they've read it.
