Is there supposed to be a attack sound/hit sound/whatever sound with every unit? i.e. with an archer, you hear the bow shoot, and if it is a hit, then you hear a grunt.

The reason for the question is ....not every unit has an attack/hit sound.

I installed Wesnoth on my laptop running Mandrake 9.1 sucesfully...

But when i install on my stationary computer who also runs Mandrake 9.1
it does not work. I think i have all the SDL running ...

The make just dies while linking sdl_mixer funtions, I have SDL_mixer 1.2 (more or less default Mandrake 9.1 install)
The problem is that my lib doesnt come with ogg and smpeg enabled.
I know how to fix it, but maybe it's a good idea to put an advice and make a static linked linux binary to less...

Hi, I've compiled and run Wesnoth on FreeBSD and it works well, but some things need to be changed:

gmake must be used instead of make.
In Makefile, the following changes have to be made:

sdl11-config instead of sdl-config
add -I/usr/local/include to INCLUDES

I tried changing it to include math.h (is this the same as cmath?), but got the same error. So instead I removed the calls to round then it complied okay :)

Well, someone told me that I could change video mode in the preferences dialog, but when clicking the video mode button, I get
there are no alternative video modes available .

What to do to change the videomode? Running the latest CVS (10 minutes old)

In scenario 10, mountain pass, the enemy didn't recruit any orcs, well one was recruited ,but no more. So it was really easy to win. So please don't fix this bug :-D

I'm using the CVS version I downloaded a few hours ago, and I changed all
1024x768 to 1600z1200 in the source code, compiled and it worked!
But in the scenario where the princess comes to aid me (forgotten the name/number of the scenario, think it is number 7) the enemy does not buy any new...

Well, running the 0.4.7. version I get these results
END: unit_attack (took 88ms)
BEGIN: unit_attack

with 0.4.8 I get

I get a whole mess of errors on one certain file when compiling. It happened to me on 0.4.7 also. Anyway, here are my system specs and the exact error I got.

Linux: Red Hat 9
GCC: 3.3.1
SDL: 1.2.6
I have mostly all the latest tools.

I've just tried the new binary version compiled by slainte, and it seems that there's a bug with translation. I choose to do a campaing in easy mode, and each screen with Wesnoth history was translated, but at the start of the game, the scenario objectives were displayed in english.

I'm running 10.2.6. I downloaded the .dmg binary, copied it to a local folder. Double-clicking the app causes it to launch, then exit immediatey.

These operations 'through Load/Save options) may take up to 1 minute. It seems it eats much cpu power and few disk accesses. Is anybody else experiencing similar behavior ?

Hi,

I've tried yesterday the 0.4.7 version under linux, and I've notice a strange behavior that wasn't present in the previous version.
The problem comes with sound playing. there's a small delay between the visual action and the asociated sound.

I'm the only one to who that happens?

When I suggested to include a difficulty setting, with an easy, normal and hard level, I thought that normal was the difficulty existing before difficulty setting was added, hard would have been harder, but easy...

- AI should protect leaders when they are attacked, units should come back to the castle.

Is there a way to not view enemy moves?
On a slow system (like my debian box, for instance) all that scrolling takes a great amount of time. Being able to skip viewing enemy moves, or snap the view instead of scrolling, would be very helpful.
