The problem still exists today. Apparently the screensaver-disabling logic is only turned off on macos:
wesnoth-1.18.5/src/macosx/SDLMain.mm: setenv ("SDL_VIDEO_ALLOW_SCREENSAVER", "1", 1);
Launching wesnoth with this variable manually set fixes the issue of wesnoth messing up xidle.

Yep, *clean* install worked fine.
I don't normally install on top of older versions but was updating both stable and dev and must've forgotten to cleardown the dev folder.
Anyway, all sorted now and my fault, v1.19.14 is fine.

What does hard reset mean? You need to reboot your device? If so then it's unlikely wesnoth can do anything about that. Sounds like an OS or hardware issue.
I suggest rather installing and playing wesnoth.1.18 instead, btw.

Sounds like #2682, that purple flags get the time-of-day recoloring and end up looking too blue during nighttime or underground.

Was running through Northern Rebirth v1.19.11 on Windows 11 and in Clearing the Mines when the ghouls etc. spawn, one spawned in a cave wall as shown in the partial screen grab below.

I would like to say that when you create unit text file cfg and inside it you use base unit then abilities arent taken from base unit to current one file. You can check it on units from era clash of lords. Some units doesnt have nightstalk, curing, healing and so on. I guess its a bug....
