Several of our mainline campaigns are in the works for upgrades at the moment, which includes adding characters and enhancing existing scenarios. We are looking for more artwork to supplement these upgrades, including the following:
We are happy to announce that Wesnoth is now able to accept donations on Liberapay. While Wesnoth does rely on the work of dedicated volunteers, no project can function completely cost-free. Revenue from the Apple App Store and from donations goes towards maintaining our servers,...

It looks good at the bottom since the page isnt too long; i had no problem finding it.
There have been numerous important forum posts and wiki articles written by users and developers. We reference these pages a lot, and decided to put them together in a convenient list. ------

Hi everyone,
I was trying to upload the new version of my add-on (Loti_Era) and I cannot as I get a "bad passphrase" error.
I tried deleting it but get the same answer.
I recently changed my forum password, so I think it might be related. I unfortunately do not have my old password anymore.
I...

So case solved.
Here is the explanation.
Since 1.13, when you upload a new add-on, you are prompted for a password. Unless you specified forum_auth=yes in _server.pbl, this is not the forum password (my mistake), but a password specific to the add-on, which as the same function as the passphrase in...
Afternoon, since about Monday 29th January, I'm unable to access the MP server from within Wesnoth. I'm getting a timeout issue. Trying to join the official server, it says 'Connecting to server...' with the logo and the little white dot running left to right. But it's timing out after about 1...

Well, as you have it - I installed via Steam, and all's good! Add-ons load within seconds, and so also MP.
Again, I have no idea why it stopped working with native install.
Anyway, I use Steam for other games, so as it's the latest production build, I'll keep using it (and probably delete the...
My friend have a problem with multiplayer game so I write here to help him.

Today I went to play Wesnoth (Windows, 1.17.24) via Steam, but it wouldn't start. I located the .exe and ran it, and was met with the following error message:
"The code execution cannot proceed because libssp-0.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."
debug options arent saved upon restart like any basic software would............. ok...........
unanswered:
perferences > advanced >loggin > is 'error' option enough, or does the other 3 give needed info
if wesnoth code was cleaned up, it'd seem easier to do anything code related

The logging options are not persistent across restarts in case that is your expectation.
Vague reports like "'debug' option seems to crash wesnoth always or often" are fairly useless. Give detailed steps to reproduce the issue then there is a chance someone else can figure out what you're talking...
2. have these kinds or types of errors happened in past?
3. if they have why do they still happen?
4. are all of these addon code problems or wesnoth code problems or both
5. why do they exist, is it cos of update to...

Yes these are mostly caused by badly written addons, some addons seem to include other addons data via macro inclusion, however this is a very bad things to do since
It parses the addons basicially twice (or even more times), resulting in much longer loading times.
I am facing this error every time,i play a campaign, where i have elvish units.I am playing on Windows 10, wesnoth version 1.16.10.Can someone help me how to fix it?

Hello, this has finally come to my attention. I will push an update to my add-on "rps-units" and fix this soon.
Hello! I created my first campaign on Battle for Wesnoth and I was following all the instructions on posting it on the add-ons list, but it doesn't work because when I agree to the guidelines it disconnects from the add-ons server (it says Error - Remote host disconnected).
I use Windows 10 and...

Thank you very much I had copied all images (117 MB) by mistake and forgot to remove them (which was of course unnecessary). I also wasn't aware of the 100 MB limit, but now it's ok and it's published!! Thank you so much for your time!!
In 1.12 it gives you a warning when you do that but in 1.14 and later it seems to have stopped. Changelog did not mention this has been altered.
Also does Control O function identically to the main screen load button or is it a shortcut to the multiplayer load button?
Is the main screen load...

I've been using CTRL O to load MP games in 1.14 and later. I thought it was a shortcut to the MP load button but I suspect it is not after all. I may have been loading them via the "main screen" load button for ages now.
Hello, I am dealing with a problem in launching any type of game on Wesnoth, as in whenever I start any type of game whether it's a campaign or local game the moment the game finishes loading resources (to be clear when the screen goes black and starts loading stuff after pressing "Play Now" when...

The weird thing too is that this isn't the first time someone has reporting that Wesnoth is crashing, and then somehow enabling debug logging once fixes it permanently.
EDIT: Fixed in 1.19 (probably before, but that's where I re-tested it)
Linux Mint 21.1, Cinnamon
In the start gui (load, campaigns, etc), choose preferences, display, resolution -- in my case 1920x1012 w/o full screen. Choose 1024x768 Choose 1920x1080 Workaround: After selecting 1024x768, hit...

This sounds like https://github.com/wesnoth/wesnoth/issues/5518. It's been a few months since this was reported, though, so I'm guessing it's no longer an issue but of course please report if it is.
i remember there was (perhaps an unstable) version of wesnoth where you could change the way graphics were "smoothed" by using BRZ and other stuff.
you could simply use whatever you wanted.
it sems if you look at unit descriptions this method is used. ingame it seems this method is not...

My understanding is that the interpolation options have been removed in more recent versions - they used to be in the Advanced Preferences, if I recall correctly.
when I play, I got this message "connection timed out" frequently. I remember now that I got this message at the beginning of this year but since may (or april), it is "everytime" I play. I bolded "everytime" because it appears everytime after 18:00 ; in the morning, afternoun before...

Hi,
Forget that i posted here too.
It was set to 10. Ajusted to 60. Works successfully today.
Thanks.
This may be not a proper technical report, but still. Many players today report occasional lags when you attack or buy a unit. The action is performed after 10-30 sec. lags. Connections are okay, and chat is working. Many players report this, so probably the mp server has some kind of trouble

Can you upload a log file here from a time when it happened?
So, it's some days that I got a problem with the lobby screen size, a part is missing and a bar on the bottom appeared with which I have to scroll right and left.
I fixed it briefly by accident (IDK what I did), but then the problem came back.
The rest of the screens and menus are in the right...

I'd call it a UI bug, so it should be reported over on github.
I could not join winkiethesnails' game with Ageless Era. Has anyone seen this message before? Usually it just asks to download the add on or says which version of the addon the host uses.
On 1.16.6, when I have too many eras installed I cannot pick the ones at the bottom, they are visible and clickable, but if i click them it rolls over and selects one of the selectable eras.
This is something that I think more than a few people have encountered: somehow, the add-ons, or GUI gets corrupted, and the add-ons that you select when creating a game are not actually selected. The only way to tell that it isn't working is to start the game, and then realize that (e.g., random...
Hey guys so I tried to go to the in game add-on server to download new campaigns and it wont let me access the add-ons list or the multiplayer other then local game just pops up a message saying remote host disconnected with the add-ons and access is denied with the multiplayer. Im running the...

I upgrade to Debian 12 (bookworm) and not only my campaigns disappeared but there is no sound. All the boxes in preferences / sounds are ticked ... any ideas?
Debian 12's Wesnoth package is actually the current 1.16.9, Deb 9-11 all were far behind. Fellow Debianers should note that most likely you'll need to install flatpak wesnoth in order to have the latest version in the future. But that's a while away since 1.16.9 kind of looks like the final version...
So I wanted to play with expanded roster of races and add Era of Magic races to the core ones. So far the only way to do this I found is through the Ageless era. But Ageless era also introduce a lot of other factions including few different versions of core races.
Is there any way to combine...

It sounds like there might be a Debian bug then, given the very similar and very recent report at viewtopic.php?t=57064
You are right. I didnot notice but there was no music also.
I run the terminal command for a proper updates :
i login server.wesnoth.org have the info:
"The remote server requested a password while using an insecure connection."
how to fix?

You're connecting to 127.195.1.114 which is a loopback address. Whatever you're doing there you need to change it so you don't connect through a loopback interface.
Hi, I'm amazed tbh that nobody noticed or reported, but the alternative mp server seems to be down, from yesterday at least. https://status.wesnoth.org/ shows it offline and showed it offline yesterday

As an update - the server hosting that we use for the alternate MP server had a power issue (https://www.tuxfamily.org/en/news/2023070200), and we're waiting for someone to be able to check in person what's going on with the server.
