Several of our mainline campaigns are in the works for upgrades at the moment, which includes adding characters and enhancing existing scenarios. We are looking for more artwork to supplement these upgrades, including the following:
We are happy to announce that Wesnoth is now able to accept donations on Liberapay. While Wesnoth does rely on the work of dedicated volunteers, no project can function completely cost-free. Revenue from the Apple App Store and from donations goes towards maintaining our servers,...

Just finished the the stories Deceiver's Gambit and Ashevier's Dogs, one thing I am left wondering: how concurrent is the fall of Dwarven Doors to these events? Orcs are running rampant over Wesnoth, is this chaos contributing to the orcs then attacking Knalga, or have they done this by the time...

If there any canon information on whether Kal Kartha participated in the defense of Dwarven Doors at all? The Northern Rebirth intro description makes it sound like DD were on their own, did that hold true for Kal Kartha or other dwarves as well? They weren’t getting corrupted by the undead at...
Im starting a campaign on Khazg Black Tusk, very little is written about him, mainly just that he assembled an army against Dwarven Doors, crushed it after a year, and pushed into Knalga where he was al bushes and killed. This happened some time around Wesnoth’s dark age.
Anything else really...

Apart from that, NR story and dialogue is probably what only bits we got about him.
Doesn't Heir to the Throne describe the same events (albeit without mentioning Khazg by name)?
Stumbled upon this little tidbit about the lore while translating the Timeline of Wesnoth and it got me thinking — could this kind of thing actually make it into the game?

In Cyrillas Great Work the merfolk use Quipus (a South American knot system) at least partially, I put that in feeling a more tactile system might make sense for an underwater race where light would be poor, but that is utterly non-canon
I'm playing through the new version of Legend of Wesmere, and can't help but wonder, where are the Drakes? Aquagar doesn't have an alliance with them anymore it would seem, but with Winds of Fate mainline, the elves are marching right through what by all rights is drakish territory? I guess I...

I’ve wondered about this too. The simplest explanation is probably that Drake territory is much less densely settled than we tend to picture it, so passing through the region does not automatically mean crossing land controlled by a Drake force.
I would like to start of by stating I am not part of any sort of 'rework fever', this has been in the works for a year and a half now Now that that is out of the way, I can start:
This story starts in the year 441, in which the Knalgan Alliance was first formed. First it was but an alliance of...

This is an interesting direction, especially since the history is being revealed out of order rather than as a straightforward prequel. The idea of the orcs gradually gaining the trust of the Knalgans before turning on them works well, and Rak'Shen bringing back a body with an obviously orcish...
There is a legend about a set of magical rings which give their wearer great powers. They were forged in ancient times by a legendary dwarvish runesmith at the request of a demigod, but, for one reason or another, he never arrived to collect them. A party of heroes decides to find the rings and use...
Last post
I think as start for a campaign this is a nice idea.
I'd make the rings more powerful though - one more melee attack sounds nice on paper, but
imagine the hero has 8-4; changing this to 8-5 is of course good, but not necessarily great.
But these are mostly minor things.
When Landar attempted to seize control of the elves, did that involve any control in Aethenwood? I don’t recall any direct references, it’s quite separated from Wesmere and Lintanir, so maybe he never got much influence there? I would venture a guess that he had at least some supporters, and may...

Legend of Wesmere (both the original and the rework) seem to have taken place in the Northlands, Wesmere, and Lintanir. I doubt any signigicant follower congregations took place. However, nothing's stopping you from making one up. Group of Landar xenophobe elves harassing wesnothian villages.
I've never done any substantial coding and have plan on implementing this myself. That said, I obviously don't expect someone else to just make it for me. This is meant primarily as a jumping-off point for discussing what a mainline Dunefolk campaign should entail, and can serve as reference for...

Im doing a new campaign that involves Saurian divination and I wonder, is there any statement about what the planets are? I assume not Jupiter, no Mars or any other planet of our own system. Has there ever been a canon description of other planets, or has it always been vague statements about...

If you need to rely on existing materials, Genesis mentions Irdia, Inferno, and Norsula. But most campaigns leave the starry sky undefined, allowing authors the freedom to create their own planets and legends.
Sorry if this question has been asked before, I couldn't find it on the forum.
I'm currently replaying the "Under the Burning Suns" campaign and in the scenario about the path under the mountains I came across a phrase about the dwarves living in these mountains for generations. Moreover, Elyssa...

Following this logic, one can assume the rest of the path of the Quenoth elves.
I'm thinking of writing another campaign (my third), and want to do a big time jump from my previous campaigns. One fairly unknown time period is the end of the golden era of Wesnoth. I have an idea regarding how the king dies (not peacefully), and building in a few elements from the newer...
Last post
I have made a campaign regarding this time period (An orcish Might). Obviously that is not cannon, but it was my take about the lore during that time if you are interested.
I added some scripts to help developers :
1. Wesnoth Scenario Event & Message Extractor: extract, display , edit and download the events and dialogs
2. Wesnoth Scenario Story Extractor: extract and display the story and dialogs
In maintaining a campaign, I came across a usage of the word "antediluvian". "Antediluvian" means "before the flood", referring to the flood narratives of Genesis in the Bible, and/or the Epic of Gilgamesh. This has me wondering, has Irdya ever experienced a planet-wide flood? I'd assume that the...

Fair point, but this is still a reference to the (myth of) Great Flood, which doesn't exist in Wesnoth.
These are just what I find to be good, so feel free to do what you like.

I don't think those are good examples. The Troll and Orc speech strike me as particularly fake. In order to write convincing dialogue for these simple-minded races, one needs to mind not just the choice of words and grammar, but also the syntax and the...
Why do Elves live in harmony with the nature? How did they get the gift of magic and longevity, and why are they so xenophobic towards other races? Why do Orcs enjoy fighting and destruction, and how do they manage to rise up after every defeat? Why are Humans the "jack of all trades, master of...

That's a neat find there! A more interesting angle for me is to examine how such a resurgent empire, full of its own strength and self-righteousness, defines what its enemies are and how they deal with them.
Wesnoth is semi-feudal in structure and nowhere as connected and organized as modern...
The Dwarvish history on the website notes dwarves helped humans settle in areas around dwarvish territory that weren’t underground. This seems like it would overlap with drakish hunting grounds, would they have come into conflict when Dwarven Doors was founded? In Northern Rebirth, far later, it...

I would suppose the reaction would have been hostile. Drakes would categorise the colonisation of humans in their lands as an invasion. Thus, they would be attacking the new settlers to driving them out.
after a discussion on Discord yesterday about wesnothian tongues, I worked on an exemple of a translator using HTML and JS (with a file of py if someonewant to developit).

Saurian (tongue only. means it add sss or zss to s and z),

Ka'Lian is considered as council of lords and ladies of the forests that gather together on important meetings. Rise of Wesnoth shows 4 such rulers (Lord Logalmier, Lord Aryad, Lord Isomirith, Lady Dionli (would be nice to give them representations to the forests)). But after Legend of Wesmere...

As lately saurians are often mentioned race on forum I wanna start new topic on this case too. In Secrets of Ancients Ardyn-na says saurians were hostile to Vendraxis's ideas of promoting necromancy among saurians. But looking on line of saurian augur we may go to conclusion their actions are...

I am creating a saurian campaign that touches on this.
For me, the society formed by a species should be informed by its biological roots. For saurians, we know that:
* they are reptiles
* they live in swamps
* they are nocturnal
Althrough some changed in Rise of Wesnoth last years I still see some unexplained things about Wesfolk.

- removal of...

I have a few thoughts about the final chapter of LoW and the Elvish civil war.
