Re: Unit sprites for After the Storm
@shadowmaster I worked on imps further before i could read your answer. I made TC-ed and non-TC-ed versions of minor imp and imp. Boils added - as I wrote before it was just a first sketch. TC on horns is logical for me - you can paint them or use magic to change their natural colour. But of course ...

Re: Unit sprites for After the Storm
Like I promised I started to work on imps. Here is minor imp sketch. I know it's very rough and the TC is almost invisible (I dont even know if it would be needed) but you now have an idea what I mean. I added horns and a tail so it would more like other demonic folk.

Re: How do you read "Irdya"?
What I do remember and know for sure is that I have always pronounced Irdya as though it was written and pronounced “Irdia” in Spanish, although I tend to pronounce the initial vowel as a /ɪ/ sound. At least Polish translators wouldn't have any problems with this because it is exactly how the Poles...

Re: Unit sprites for After the Storm
HoMM3 was my inspiration, though not its Imp unit but its Demon. But I didn't want to just ape some unit from the other game. The head is exaggerated because I was thinking about something grotesque, devilish. And besides we are talking about quite small icon. It should have visible snout features s...

Re: Unit sprites for After the Storm
I thought of something like this fellow - a hybrid of Tasmanian Devil from Looney Toons and minotaur.

Re: Unit sprites for After the Storm
I could start to work on imps unless they are already taken. If not:
1. do they need to be made as variation of one design or not? I mean primarily colour palette.
2. do they need to retain the current quasi-humanoidal appearance?
3. should they have some common traits in appearance with demons?

Re: Unit sprites for After the Storm
Is it (the fallen one) still meant to be floating in the air?
Which sprites are most needed?

Re: Mangrove forest (prev. Tropical and subtropical foliage)
I think that main problem is what should be root colour. The dark ones were not good so I think this time I'm going to make them really bright to make them dostignuished from both water and mud. An I think I made too large canopies for some bushes, the lesser ones more densely packed look better. an...

Re: New bigmaps
I have one problem with this illustration: the forest foliage stands too much. It has completely different style (quasi-3D and green) when the rest of features are highly stylized like on old maps and made with brown ink. I mean - the graphical signs for forest could be made to look like painted or ...

Never?vultraz wrote:Well for one, the roots are never that violet.
Besides I need to differentiate them somehow from dark brown mud.
That's what I started to realize. Also, the clusters of leaves are always closer than that, like the summer forest.

So I am to understand that the syplhs, faeries & Co. are levitating, not flying like overgrown insects (or hummingbirds)?
For fallen faeries what about this pattern of wings?

Re: Mangrove forest (prev. Tropical and subtropical foliage)
I worked on mangroves during last weekend but I cannot say I'm really happy with the result. Something is still wrong. I suspect that the shading on bushes should be finer, in similar scale like on deciduous trees. Right now the mangroves look like they come from the other fairy tale. But I need som...
