Re: Upcoming Music and Art licensing changes
Yeah that looks like a lot of licences, but, for Wesnoth, there is only really one major concern — SA or ND. I'm pretty sure all of our creators can understand the difference between "yes, you can modify this" and "no, you can't modify this". Then why not just restrict to SA or ...

Re: Upcoming Music and Art licensing changes
2. I have reservations about allowing "any CC license" on the add-on server. I'm inclined to suggest, only "share-alike" licenses. At least that is the simplest most incremental change that we can make -- the share-alike aspect is pretty important to the project right now, every...

Re: Upcoming Music and Art licensing changes
Hi, I was going to write a longer "counter-proposal" but I guess I will just limit it for now to a set of concerns that I have. Most of this we also discussed on irc some months ago I recall. 1. I think everyone agrees that using the GPL for art is not ideal and we should fix the situation...

Addan-Shem: I particularly like your take on the wings, where you have the bony "arm" of the wing, and extending from that the the feathers get darker at their tips.

Re: Gryphon Walking Corpse Variation
Ok, I will try to do is head then I guess. Going to have to think about it for a while, the only undead bird example I have is chocobone... I guess maybe I want to go for a look where his feathers become dark and patchy around his head? But it will take me quite a bit of trial and error to get there...

Gryphon Walking Corpse Variation
One thing which always bothered me is that mainline wesnoth does not have a proper walking corpse variation for gryphons. Instead, the Drake walking corpse sprites are reused. But, the Drakish walking corpse has quite different movetype and resistances, so this is fairly confusing as a player. I had...

Re: tool for re-encoding addon texts into utf-8
Nobun: Is this actually a common problem? I guess I would hope that the wesnoth addon server (`campaignd`) would reject addons that aren't UTF-8, and tell people to try using a different text editor. Further I guess you could expect wesnoth itself to reject WML files that aren't UTF-8 to avoid probl...

Re: Dwarvish Guardsman
I think actually, the Knalgan are probably one of the weakest factions. Far from being overpowered, nerfing guards would cripple them against Loyalists and Drakes, where they basically have a huge disadvantage when both sides are played by the most experienced players, on the "typical" map...

Re: Running the test suite
Can you show a little more detail of how you are building? And confirm the really basic stuff like, the test executable actually was built, the executable exists, it is named `test_debug` and not `test` etc.? In the past, I've seen things like, the test suite crashing with an assertion failure or se...

Re: Large scale battle -> platoons!
I think if you wanted to do this, it might be worth it to try to add a new concept to the attack system of wesnoth. Besides damage and strikes, have a concept of "volleys". A volley is some number of strikes. When one unit attacks another, instead of taking turns making strikes, they take ...

Re: Multiplayer Timer Settings, and more (!)
Would there still be need for some time bonus based on for example the number of units, though? You might want 4 minutes when you're in the thick of battle, but 4 minutes would probably usually be excessive for the first couple of turns. You shouldn't receive more time based on how many units you h...

Re: Multiplayer Timer Settings, and more (!)
If you run out of time, your turn just ends, right? You're right, I just misremembered exactly what happens. But it's still often game ending. If your turn ends up with, you attack with half your army, and those guys get zocced or whatnot, it's probably the end for you. If you already attacked with...

Multiplayer Timer Settings, and more (!)
While spectating one of the International Wesnoth Tournament games, there were a number of things that occurred to me in regards to how we can make the timer work better. A small discussion took place among observers there. Here are my thoughts. Note that there are probably two or three independent ...

Re: International Wesnoth Tournament 2016
I could not watch the replay, it says it was corrupt / out of sync.
I did not find the replay on server, maybe I missed it.
Edit: I guess you can just click through the OOS it seems.
