Re: Give us an option to disable the "enemy unit sighted" ev
Also, IMO it would be really helpful if we got this during replays also. In 1.10 the "enemy unit sighted" text would not appear during replays. In 1.12, this was changed, you get the big banners when watching a replay also iirc. gfgtdf and I disagreed about whether this was a regression or...

Re: How unbalanced is Age of Heroes as of Sep 2016?
Actually, IMO it would improve Age of Heroes if the leaders were level 2, like in default, rather than level 3. The level 3 leaders just make it really campy, you can't get close to the enemy at all or your guys just get destroyed. Idk if change like that is worth it, though.

Re: Wesnoth 1.13.5
My experience on linux has been that the userdata dir is automatically confiugred to be `~/.local/share/wesnoth/1.10` or `~.local/share/wesnoth/1.12`, etc. I also have a 1.13 directory, so I don't think that was created by a package, I think folder was created by the game itself when I ran it after ...

Re: New animations
I mean it could be like a boa or something. Like it smacks the prey, then it pulls into water and constricts it. Doesn't need suckers for that. I would still classify that as "impact" damage :) Another question is, if it is anatomically correct, then the body that the tentacle is attached ...

Re: libwml
:D So I decided to change how the whole thing works yesterday and today. The idea is that, there is an XML file that knows about every tag that is documented on the wiki. (Knowing, what attributes it has, what types they can have, what their default values are, what child tags it can have, and how m...

libwml
I wanted to make a page about a wesnoth-related project that I worked on that I open sourced recently. libwml is a parser library which can be used to parse WML. The main distinctive feature of it is that it parses WML without expanding the macros -- the macros get represented in an unexpanded state...

In regards to my own nomination:
If elected I would accept, and take it seriously.

Re: Wesnoth2, Wesnoth, Inc, and other things
@iceiceice: My points of view on some things: - Personally, at least, I don't really like a model of "aggressively soliciting people to help" on a FLOSS project like Wesnoth. I think people help if they enjoy it and if they don't they don't. We should make people feel welcome to help if t...

Re: Wesnoth2, Wesnoth, Inc, and other things
Look, the only thing I'm particularly interested in is gauging like, a ballpark estimate of how much money wesnoth might raise via donations, in connection to what point Dave was making. I might be wrong, it might in fact be a very small number, much less than I thought. I have no information about ...

Re: Wesnoth2, Wesnoth, Inc, and other things
I guess I don't know what your monetary goals are for Wesnoth 2. But I don't think you should discount donations as far as Wesnoth 1 is concerned. I recall that some time ago there was a discussion on irc about donations, and AI0867 found that someone had started a Wesnoth-related flattr account, w...

Re: Wesnoth2, Wesnoth, Inc, and other things
From my point of view, as a programmer, the arrangement you describe seems unattractive in that, I'm spending free time to help create a game / game engine technology, but at the end, basically you own the assets and I have only a limited right to them myself. Okay. So what licensing model do you t...

Re: Wesnoth2, Wesnoth, Inc, and other things
Here's an example. In another post, a user posted a "Simple HTML5 Wesnoth Implementation": https://forums.wesnoth.org/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=44416 My long-term goal for the project is to make a persistent, large world map, which player can fight over by playing games of Wesnoth. (Think o...

Re: Wesnoth2, Wesnoth, Inc, and other things
Andrettin, it was also mentioned: The actual gameplay code for wesnoth2 will most likely be made available under the GPL though we haven't made a final decision on this. Usually GPL projects don't have or require a contributor license or anything else, everyone's rights are equivalent. Also Argentum...

Re: Donating to Battle for Wesnoth
I'm hugely in favor of people reusing my code+art to make their own games (and several people at this point have some little anura projects going on github lifting heavily from some of the stuff I've made). I'm not interested in someone doing a dupe-and-dump hack-job on it, but I'm very much intere...

Sorry, I didn't realize that you guys didn't write that paragraph on wikipedia and hadn't seen it yourselves.
