Re: Continuing a match after all players have disconnected?
Emailing the save file might be the workaround that'll get it done. Thanks for the feedback! I have done this before. Wesnoth play-by-mail, as it were. Just... yaknow, you have to trust each other not to cheat as cheating is made substantially easier than in a live multiplayer game (although it's s...

Re: Wesnoth Board
Look, I don't know what the politics are with the board or Wesnoth's governance, but I've done some thinking with regard to finances: -If Wesnoth is a nonprofit corporation, could we consider starting an endowment? I've seen two charities, one of which I was a part of, get more or less bailed out by...

My Story
I've kept silent about this just because it depressed me so incredibly deeply. The original "This is a sinking ship." post made me cry. Physically. It moved me in ways that story, instruments, poetry, and song have all failed. My heart stopped that day and it paused again when I read the &...

Re: What are the worst units in the game
I agree Skellies are bad. You kind of need one, but you should avoid getting more than that unless your opponent is going ham on spearmen or something. I think choosing between "Focusing" on Skellies or Skelly archers is kind of a weird question. Undead is a story of having as many DAs as ...

Re: What are the worst units in the game
... A drake has three strikes, a horseman has two. A drake is likelier to get 2/3 than a horseman is to get 2/2. It's a really basic, basic concept in Wesnoth. I don't see much point in addressing the rest of what you said, but yeah it's definitely too expensive. Okay, yes, it's likelier to get 2/3...

Re: What are the worst units in the game
Why is there a far greater chance the Drake will get two hits in compared to the Horseman? A drake maxes out at 40% evade which is what a Horseman is getting on its favored terrain - on flat ground drakes only get 30% evasion. It is actually way less likely for a Fighter to kill a Horseman, because...

Re: What are the worst units in the game
You rarely open against an enemy with a horseman unless you're fine with the enemy sticking around to kill it. You hit the drake with one spearmen and then you have a 70/60% chance to kill it without taking a single point of damage and even if you miss you have another 60/70% chance to kill it whil...

Re: [in general]Should Backstab be tweaked ?
Shadows are exceedingly powerful assassin units that are far and away the most terrifying unit the Undead can field. This is actually why I think the Shadow should be eliminated/replaced/tweaked severely. I don't like when a unit levels/can level into something completely, 100% different. It just s...

Re: What are the worst units in the game
Horsemen do suffer badly when things go wrong but I find that their effectiveness is worth the risk a good amount of the time. It's worth noting, that if the drakes are simply playing clashers and saurians I'd never recruit the horseman. However, it does not change the fact that I do still find the...

Re: What are the worst units in the game
I mean yes, you could miss your attack. You can miss with any attack, ever, and that might falter your plans. This is a game about examining probability in conjunction with strategy. Decisions are made based on what has the highest probability of success. And your opponent is bound to those same ru...

Re: What are the worst units in the game
Just to put in my thoughts I actually feel the horsemen are a very powerful but also very situational tool of the loyalists. Not for every game but not a bad unit by any stretch. Horsemen let you break open your damage per hex limit and to have a killing threat that your opponent cannot as easily r...

Re: What are the worst units in the game
The ghost is something of a defensive concession to the faction's glass-cannon nature. It doesn't have the best offenses because it fills a role similar to the Dwarvish Guardsman, in that it's very hard to kill, especially with melee, but it instead retreats away from danger more easily in exchange...
