Just a small bug - the Illdari "stasis generator" attack applies an overlay image to its victim which never gets removed (even after the effect has worn off).

Perhaps a simple way of achieving something like this would be to give bomber ships a bombard ability which can weaken randomly chosen planet-side units, to soften them up. It is certainly possible; that is actually how they used to retreat in an earlier version. I think you are right, the ship name labels need to be either moved to the bow, recolored (to bright white?) or both.
