MP coop campaign: World Conquest

I just threw together a basic MP campaign of the plain straight-up fighting variety, comprising 6 scenarios against increasing numbers of enemies on larger and larger island-continents. Much is randomized, including the recruits you start with (you get more recruits available from scenario to scenar...

Re: What is a good way to fix the length of games?

True. Villages held would have to be less important than other factors, perhaps. Or a TOD correction factor would have to be included in the equation. (Ugh, getting complicated already!) A TOD factor might be best in any event. I mean, suppose you're looking at a snapshot of a loyalist vs. undead m...

Re: In which campaigns/scenarios do I find randomness?

Random Conquest is, coincidentally enough, a campaign with a considerable amount of randomness. It's designed for 2p online play, however, so you'd need a friend to play it (plus it's very much oriented towards strategy-level army building rather than RPG-level character building); I guess you could...

Re: Auxiliary Era project

I think I've got just about everything in place in terms of "must-have" units, so I went ahead and put an early version on the add-ons server. This is still incomplete in terms of units included (let alone art); northerners and drakes in particular haven't gotten much love yet; rebels and ...

Re: Auxiliary Era project

It's kind of a lawful version of a poacher-footpad hybrid. I have it at 6-2 melee and 3-3 ranged, with 6 MP and a slew of movetype perks.

Re: Auxiliary Era project

Updates: frontiersman, vampire, and level 2 witch (actually, this one will probably be called "witch"; I'll name the level 1 something else): auxe_misc.PNG Not my best work, but good enough for now. I've decided to make the witch a costly, fragile specialist rather than a cheapo filler uni...

Re: Auxiliary Era project

@Skizzaltix: I don't really plan on adding a naga caster to drakes; a cold-based naga would be way too similar to augurs. I'd rather just have the sea witch stay in with the northies use a "nonmagical magic" cold attack (again, see: Ghost), and come up with some other sort of naga to add t...

Did anyone mention a "new" saurian change? I just figured everyone was talking about 1.3+ saurians vs. pre-1.3 saurians.

Re: Auxiliary Era project

I've always been a fan of this kind of era. Nice to see one around again. What if you were to split Naga from the Northerners and Saurians from the Drakes and combine them into their own faction? Could be cool, and the Sea Orc could potentially fill the gap for the Northerners.... The main goal (in...

Re: Auxiliary Era project

Artistic inspiration is slow to come tonight; I've got a couple of half-finished roughs, but I may not have anything new to show until tomorrow, so I figured I might as well do some stat writeups. Here's what I've got more or less firm, but there's plenty of room for additions: Loyalist additions Yo...

Re: Auxiliary Era project

@Turuk: I do have a Notepad file full of statistics but they're pretty tentative; most values will be pretty much up in the air until I get faction lineups finalized a bit. Mostly at this point I'm just focusing on the key features planned units will have. @Thanatos: Well, part of the idea is that a...

Thanks. As promised, here are the fruits of my labors thus far (the picture got distorted a bit, click on it to see it at its proper dimensions): auxe_skelecavalry.PNG Skeleton cavalry line, using a tweaked version of the skeleton rider/bone knight from Liberty (incidentally, who made the originals?...

Sweet! I think you knocked that one out of the park (the presumably unfinished head notwithstanding). Pose is maybe a little on the bland side but it carries the attitude very well.

Re: Return of the fencer, part deux

"Sluggish" seems to be the dominant problem of your latest revision, in my opinion. His pose and expression just make him look weary rather than bored. If this was just an average upper-crust snob this would be perfectly fitting, but the character in question is a skilled athletic fighter;...

Auxiliary Era project

So I've been foolin' around in Gimp and Notepad a bit these past few days starting on a new era. My goal is not to create any new factions; instead I plan on taking the existing six default era factions and expanding them with new recruits and possibly a few new levelup branches here and there (my f...
