Re: Use of Cavalrymen and Their Advancements
I notice that he points out that Cavalrymen have high resistances to most types of damage besides pierce, and good hp, although as good as their damage is, it's inferior to a spearman's or a horseman's. Additionally, I find that there is ALOT of pierce damage in Wesnoth. The majority of basic units,...

Use of Cavalrymen and Their Advancements
I've been playing Battle for Wesnoth for a while now, and I find that I prefer Loyalists, which brings me to the question: What are cavalrymen good for? Aside from light blade damage (along with fencers they are the main blade units), scouting, village grabbing, and I suppose maybe getting an extra ...

Difficulty Selection Menu
After selecting a campaign, a menu pops up for choosing which difficulty to play at. For some reason, my difficulty selection screen has this large blank space next to it. I downloaded "A Simple Campaign" and found that it has that space as well. The mainline campaigns don't have it, so I ...

Re: Scenario 9: The Valley of Death
(1) What difficulty level and version of Wesnoth have you played the scenario on? 1.8.6, Normal (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) 8. On older versions the eastern lich only recruited walking corpses, which was okay, but now he recruits wraiths, which makes it that much worse. (3) H...

Re: Could someone update the Create guides?
In that case, is it a good idea to try an learn the syntax from a mainline campaign, or should I download a use-made campaign? Or does it not matter aside from the _main file? For the binary pathing thing, do I need to have that then? And is it necessary to have the translations? What does it take t...

Re: Could someone update the Create guides?
Okay then I'll start with: why is it that in the mainline campaigns, at the top of the _main file, inside the textdomain section, there is nothing say path="something" but in the guide it says to have one there? The path= part is at the bottom of the mainline campaign file in a different t...

Could someone update the Create guides?
I'm not sure if this is the right section to post this, but the guides to create scenarios and campaigns mostly say that they are outdated. Could someone update them, or is the information in them still fully relevant?

Re: Campaign recall lists
Yes, but I meant what types of units would be useful overall. I see that playing style is important, but a list would guide my promotes in the right direction. Also, instead of actual amounts, I meant approximate ratios, ie, for me, one grand knight for every paladin in tRoW, only grand knights afte...

Re: Campaign recall lists
Ah yes I see that now, but I was referring to other campaigns. For instance, whether rangers or marksmen are more useful in HttT, how many levelled archers compared to fighters, etc. Yes the wiki does this, but it does not recommend a certain amount of which unit. So I go levelling whatever seems to...

Campaign recall lists
I am playing Rise of Wesnoth right now, and at some point I got stuck and went to the wiki walkthrough for help. However, I found that the pointers at the beginning of the walkthrough were most helpful, in advising me in what types of units I would want to promote. This was great, since if I just fe...

Re: Review Replay, HttT Isle of Anduin
Thanks very much, I will look in to my recruitment patterns much more carefully. As for the village, yes, I realized later that if I had it, and my leader was closer to the keep, I could have done much better. I also figured at the point where I was surrounded and the elf captain was in front of me ...

Re: Review Replay, HttT Isle of Anduin
Sorry about the replay, it seems to be the wrong one. As for the villages, I did not grab them all since I initially expected a very short game. Hmm, I guess I should have paid more attention and replaced the cavalry with a fencer or something. Here is the correct replay. This one ended when I blund...
