Re: Delfador's Memoirs announcements and bug reports

Hi! I am playing this campaign for the 1st time, and enjoying it. One thing that I must say, though, is that the difficulty of the scenarios varies widely - too widely, imo. I'm playing on normal (standard for me the 1st time I play a campaign), and I breezed through the first seven scenarios almost...

Re: Temples of the nagas - version 8

The brown leader was originally a workaround for a problem: when a player lost his leader, he would be instantly dropped from the game and be unable to re-enter it if the ai side had no leader. So the brown leader was hidden under a mountain, and could not move or recruit. That's what I remember any...

Re: Farewell

Bye Bob! I was always awed by what you managed to accomplish in Wesnoth - your scenarios were innovative (an understement!) and fun. I was glad to contribute to some of them in my own small way. Good luck with whatever obsesses you next! ;)

Re: Extended Era - lastest = x.33.2

I do not have Era of Magic, but I have seen these sorts of OOSes, and not only with the Dark Elves, but sometimes with the Sylvans as well. However, I only see it in games with EE + EoM + default, so I personally suspect something is not working with the way the three eras are linked together. Since...

Re: Minor rant/looking for suggestions.

Something you might consider doing is putting the cart before the horse, and starting an EoM tournament now, and rather than using balancing to get EoM ready for tournament play, use tournament play to get EoM ready for balancing. Here's why: Optimally, for balancing puposes you would want feedback ...

Re: The High Seas (Naval MP Scenario)

Mabuse: insulting those who disagree with you is not a good strategy, if your intention is to provoke serious discussion. "Dr. Spock", as you call it, is an exploit that is very contrary to the spirit of the scenario, and that is why I, and other players, object to it. Having rum raided in...

Re: The High Seas (Naval MP Scenario)

One suggestion I would like to make is that it should take having at least 1 movement point remaining to be able to board a ship. Otherwise, crews can debark, attack an enemy ship, and embark all in the same round. An alternate suggestion is to give a melee attack to ships which currently lack one. ...

You're much too kind, TL. What started out as a completely intuitive rationale has been bent beyond comprehension in the interests of preserving a damage type which, in retrospect, should have been removed entirely.

One very minor balance quibble: the Quickfire stance doesn't appear to be worth much. It increases ranged strikes by one, but reduces ranged damage by 2, and reduces movement by 2. In the case of a human experienced Ranger, for instance, adopting this stance makes ranged damage go from 10-3 to 8-4 -...

Silicon Viking: Such backstory as exists for the EE factions can be found on the forums. The Dark Elves are somewhat loosely based on D&D Drow, for instance, iirc. The best-developed backstory that I know about belongs to the Sidhe. I can help you narrow your search a bit: do a search on posts b...

The problem with randomizing the waves in Team Survival is that they increase in difficulty as time goes on. Also, the scenario is only beatable *because* it's predictable.

Well, my delima is that I wish I could just prevent +2 from giving health period. That way, you're forced to play the RPG with a healer, and if s/he dies, then you better hope for a friendly RNG. In many ways, you have to focus on protecting the healer as the most important aspect of combat. The pr...

This question of what is suitable for inclusion in mainline and what is not is a fascinating one. On the one hand, scenarios like A New Land certainly don't fit into the original vision of Wesnoth and what its gameplay should be, but on the other hand, the game engine and WML features have expanded ...

Welcome back Megane. I think your faction became popular because it had a coherent concept, and pretty nice art. If you're going to work on them again, you'll need to give some attention to the balance issues. Kalis made a summary of those here: http://www.wesnoth.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=258596#25...

When I made the comment, I thought there were a few more than the one you cited. I checked today, and that's the only one.
