Re: Thanks to whoever made Battle for Wesnoth

This is the game I've played spanning the most number of years. Warcraft 3 is a close second.
Thanks everyone for contributing to this game so I can get so much fun out of it over the years. :)

Re: The "mediocre" level

I feel more like the worst of the best Me too. I usually play very well against people I've never seen before. People who I know to be good opponents, however, I do really badly against. e.g Gallifax. It's not skill finding someone with similar skill. Either too good or too bad. :( Pro-noob. :geek:...

Re: Luck In Wesnoth

Go to your Home Folder/Library/Preferences/Wesnoth1.6/saves and put the file in there. Open Wesnoth, click load, then press the "show replay" check box, and select the file and press ok. The replay will load and you just click the play button. :)

Luck In Wesnoth

Tricked you, I'm not complaining. ;) You know how there used to be these players complaining about luck and losing full HP Clashers to damaged charging horsemens but have no replays to show? Well I've got one. ;) In this 1v1(Sullas Ruins) game I flanked his overwhelming army of drakes with horseman ...

Re: WesBowl

Funny... I remember seeing a 'mainline' scenario that fits this description exactly several stable versions ago. Anyone else remember? There were units on each side and they have to take this foot ball to the other side to score or something and the AI couldn't play it properly. :S

(1) What difficulty levels have you played the scenario on? Normal (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) 6 (3) How clear did you find the scenario objectives? Very clear. (4) How clear and interesting did you find the dialog and storyline of the scenario? Very good. (5) What were your ...

Re: Free war / strategy board games

Why has no one mentioned WARHAMMER 40K??? A 750 points 1v1 game on a 48 x 48 inch board can be finished in under an hour. (750 points -> maybe half a dozen squads, each with 10-20 units.. More units than a wesnoth game! ) The only downside is the huge capital cost. You'll probably want to start with...

Re: Suitability of GPL for assets

Most to the point, the source of any drawing is primarily spread across a dimension of time, rather than a dimension of pages like code or writing. A .c file could also be 'spread across a dimension of time'. The programmer might have written a while-loop then changed it to a for-loop, or they refa...

Re: Blind leading the blind

Connect a digital camera to the blind person's optic nerve, and then have a decoder in between to turn digital camera signals into optical nerve signals. How about that, huh? ;) I can see this happening some time in the next 50 years.

Re: iPhone port of Wesnoth?

You could so make money porting Wesnoth to iPhone and selling it for $4.99 each copy. Then give a link to your website with the source, as required by GPL... It'd take a month or so before people download your source and re-distribute on iTunes store unless some wesnoth dev finds out first. :twisted...

You're a pretty good writer though... I actually read a couple of posts on your "Dev Blog", without knowing what is Ultima, or Shadowbane... Usually blocks of texts like that are pretty daunting to me.

Re: The Kind of Game *I* Would Like To See

i'm talking about a random world with random cultures, lands, races, creatures, technolegys. You're in one. There's an extra feature, you only have one go at it. But guess what, its free to join even for non-existant-yet human beings. In this world you can be a carpenter, soldier, miner, slave, maf...

I just tried writing a scenario following steps in the documentation. It resulted in something with 10 Konrad's on the sidelines watching and I recall zookeeper saying:

It was actually pretty fun though. :)

Its not exactly a world map, but are you talking about something like this?

Probably a bit old to play on 1.4 now, though.
