Re: [In-depth Feedback] Sceptre Of Fire

I'd be tempted to add in a note saying something to the effect of "it's possible to avoid the outriders ever reaching Alanin, if you plan your moves wisely" so that you could tell whether you're on the right track or not, but currently it's hard to say whether that statement would strictly be true ...

Re: [In-depth Feedback] Sceptre Of Fire

First of all, thank you very much for the feedback, You're welcome. the scenario was not badly balanced, but I misunderstood the objectives and proceeded to do something that was by far the worst strategy/plan for me, hence the (fake) difficulty curve. And I can already see people going like "how c...

Re: [In-depth Feedback] Sceptre Of Fire

You may trash me for being newbie or bad, do so freely, but difficulty shouldn't sway so much(it goes back to what I was used to, after this scenario) It felt frustrating so I just opened the debugger to see how the campaign resumes. Well, I wouldn't "trash" anybody for being unexperienced, but I s...

This wiki page might be a good start, in case you haven't read it already. https://wiki.wesnoth.org/How_to_play_Drakes

Re: Quantifying how good/bad units are per-level. (UNFINISHED)

You have 4 battles, and in each one, 4 rounds of combat, setup so that the 40th damage occurs once per battle in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th combat rounds. These battles will each have 4 units on each side, each hitting exactly the same way for the purposes of this. I guess this is a flawed argument...

Re: THoT Forbidden Forest

What's a good strategy for the THoT scenario Forbidden Forest that doesn't rely on knowing in advance what the AI is going to recruit? Well, you didn't mention on what difficulty you're playing. I played this campaign on medium a while ago, so take it with a grain of salt, if you're on hard. That w...

Re: Advice for Son of the Black Eye S9?

On what difficulty level were you playing this level, by the way? Medium. To be honest, I did reload a couple of times when my Shamans were dying, but still. Yeah, unfortunately they are very squishy. You really have to take care that, whenever you use them, there'll be no one around to retaliate. ...

Re: The RNG

OK so don't get me wrong i absolutely LOVE wesnoth but i mean come on am i the only person that thinks the RNG software is BS. No, there're already several threads here, where people complain that they're "screwed over" by the RNG. I've also seen a "let's play" video on YT, where a guy repeatedly t...

Re: Advice for Son of the Black Eye S9?

I'm also playing SotBE at medium at the moment, and it's quite challenging for me. The approach "just recall as much lvl3s as you can afford" didn't work well for me, perhaps because I don't have unlimited amounts of Lvl3 trolls and warlords in my recall list. I did win this scenario though, with a ...

Re: Is Wesnoth mainly luck and not skill-based?

It's totally normal for games, to depend to luck to a certain degree. And there's a wide range of games from chess (0% luck, 100% strategy) to roulette or lottery (100% luck, 0% strategy). Poker for example is highly luck dependent, however nobody really doubts that there are good and bad poker play...

Re: Roar of the Woses

I also really liked this campaign. Love playing with unusual races, (not Loyalists, Elfs or Dwarfs.) I'm no Wesnoth crack, but in my opinion the campaign is pretty balanced in itself, and I liked the story and the dialogues. (Although there are some minor logical flaws. Why does the Wose chief give ...
