Re: Add-ons client/server support for add-on ratings

If I'm only interested in addons with global high quality, some generic categories would be useless. Dont see why it should be removed, as it can also work as a generic category. This is exactly what I've said: You can even have a 'global quality of addon' as a category which would be the same as y...

Re: Add-ons client/server support for add-on ratings

You have skipped some of my points I think I have answered all your points in 1-4. Your last paragraph, I synthesized because it all relies on the presence/absence of generic categories. Your conclusion was removing an absolute numerical score. [...] I find it reasonable, and clearly you do too bec...

Re: Add-ons client/server support for add-on ratings

Anybody slightly bellow the threshold would feel offended by those who rate it Or it would incite them to improve their addons. There is a reviews feature that allows submitting reviews that describe these categories by words. You can rate that the art looks good, but lacks animations (this is what...

Re: Difficulty ratings

At FOSDEM a while back, we decided (as far as it hadn't been decided already) that [...] #1 should indicate the easiest level you can play the campaign on. OK, thanks. But then again, DW is 'Intermediate level' while the easiest level you can play it on is 'Beginner'. So it doesn't hold any more. A...

Re: Add-ons client/server support for add-on ratings

So after reading the whole Players' Reviews thread (lots of OT in there...) and this one, here are some proposals: 1. Instead of a single mark or yes/no flag-of-approval, have several small flags/icons: art, story, gameplay, ... because as already said users do not play campaigns with the same end g...

Re: [interface] load menu

To zookeeper, gfgtdf and shadowm: The template for the names of savefiles (.gz files) is indeed something like $Localized_Campaign_Initials-$Localized_Scenario_Name-[$TurnX|$Auto-SaveX].gz in which all elements use the "prefered" language at the time of saving. I don't want to change that....

Re: [interface] load menu

Ok... So you are proposing to make some kind of hack that tries to grab numbers from the start of id's of scenarios and display these to the users concatenated into the names of their save files? Yes, except for the passage in bold which is incorrect. The engine already parses the file in $savefile...

Re: saved games repository for testing

I think I've spotted a typo in THOT 07 (dialogs not fitting for all difficulty levels) and I want to verify it in game first. I would like to test some stuff in UTBS too. So it's not really "debugging" in this case. Yet one can probably find other use cases for the repository: studying an ...

Re: [interface] load menu

Actually what you are proposing is that all mainline campaign maintainers just change the names of all scenarios to include the number, if appropriate, in the name of the scenario as well as the id? And hopefully the UMC campaigns may follow suit? Why would I want to do that? I've always been discu...

Re: [interface] load menu

Aren't the file names of the saves also the (translatable) scenario name, or am I wrong about that? Yes. The template is "$CampaignInitials-$ScenarioName.gz" in which both $CampaignInitials and $ScenarioName use the "prefered" language at the time of saving. If you later change ...

Re: [interface] load menu

i think, scenarios don't have numbers, especialy in non linear campaigns they can appear in different orders. I think using the number at the beginning of the name would be enough (at least for mainline). eg TSG ' 05 _Choice_In_The_Fog.cfg' is followed by either ' 06a _Tidings_Good_and_Ill.cfg' or ...

saved games repository for testing

Is there a place somewhere on the website where one can upload/download saved games for mainline campaigns? I'm looking for a repository of saved games for all scenarios and all campaigns. The idea is saving some time when debugging a specific scenario and not having to play through all the campaign...

[interface] load menu

Please ignore this post if those ideas are already implemented in 1.11.x although I haven't seen anything in the changelogs. It would be great if the load menu's interface showed a bit more information. Hopefully these improvements should be easy to implement (at least easier than a new filtering in...

Re: Difficulty ratings

AOI uses, "Beginner, Normal, Challenging," and SotBE has, "Challenging, Difficult, Nightmare." So, the hardest difficulty level for AOI is intended to be roughly as difficult as the easiest way to play SotBE. I agree with that and I never meant otherwise. Combining labels of bot...

Difficulty ratings

Hello Wesnoth community! For my first post in the forums I decided to cover something that bothers me since I discovered Wesnoth about one year ago. Campaign ratings in Wesnoth use 3 different systems (illustrated in bold in this example from the DM campaign's "_main.cfg"): difficulties= E...
