Re: how lively this community is?
I can name 10 or so open source games out of the top of my head that have a less active community. Wesnoth is by far the largest one I know, in all of the categories code complexity and size (with wml/lua), addon number and variety, player community and number of (only active or doesn't matter) dev...

Re: Unlockables and Trophies
Hmm, quite strange - my /My Games/Wesnoth1.10/preferences file has nothing under "completed_campaigns", but nevertheless the campaigns show up as complete in-game. No Wesnoth data seems to be in AppData either... I wonder where it is stored.

Thank you!Dugi wrote: It might cause some, but nothing serious. I think that some hotkeys in main menu might get messed up between 1.10 and 1.12, but I haven't noticed anything else. Between various 1.12 versions and later 1.11 versions there should be no issues.

Nice! And doing so may cause no issues?Dugi wrote: For Windows users: All those things are in the preferences file. You can just copy the file from the folder of the old version into the folder of the new one when swapping versions.

Would be nice if those were persistent across different versions of WesnothJabie wrote: Currently the closest things to trophies in the game are the wreaths around completed camapigns and the unit list, which is only revealed when you encounter / use a unit of the relevant type.

Re: Deterministic mode for save scummers!
I wonder if there would be interest in a "No Randomness" mode (with hit chance being transformed into a damage modifier, so that a unit that causes 10 damage with 70% hit chance would always hit and cause 7 damage instead). I imagine that it would be something easy to implement (I can look...

Re: License for android
The GPL says that you can reuse, modify, and redistribute GPL content, and charge money for it if you wish, but that if you make a new copyrightable work (derivative work) using that content, the new work can only be distributed under the terms of the GPL. If you can think of the game engine as bei...

Re: License for android
That is highly debatable. Images and music could be considered "mere aggregation" (indeed, AFAIK that is the mainstream view), and thus the source code of the game wouldn't need to be disclosed.Dugi wrote:You can do that if you give your game a GPL license.

Is it possible to donate to Wesnoth? If so, how would I do it?

Re: Upate DESURA, please.
Most likely you are welcome to become the new Desura release person, or to make some sort of "unofficial" desura release... I really don't know what politics goes into which releases are considered official. Since Wesnoth is already on Desura, I imagine that the best way to go would be to...

Wouldn't it just be a matter of sending the latest version to Desura?shadowm wrote:The packager hasn’t been involved with Wesnoth for a while and currently doesn’t have the necessary equipment to update Wesnoth on that platform, I’m afraid.

This is the number 1 reason why I'm eagerly waiting for Wesnoth to come out on Steam.

Re: Battle Theme A
Out of curiosity, is there a policy against mainlining music with electric guitar? More or less, yes: http://r.wesnoth.org/p283377 What kind of music are you looking for? We are mainly looking for orchestral music, i.e. a simulation of a contemporary large orchestra with strings, brass, winds and p...

Re: Battle Theme A
I can hear something a lot like an electric guitar in the backgrounds, so I'd be surprised if this makes it into mainline. But you're right, it is pretty snazzy. Yeah, if not mainline, I think it could be definitely be useful for UMCs. Out of curiosity, is there a policy against mainlining music wi...
