Re: Lua & WML, when to use what?

As far as performance goes, the large majority of the time I doubt this is a compelling reason to use one or the other. If you do end up needing the extra performance that lua can give, then of course use it, but unless you're doing something particularly complex it's unlikely anyone would notice a...

Re: Lua & WML, when to use what?

I actually disagree with most peolpe here, Of course it depends on what progrmming experience you have already and how complex the code is that you want to have in sour scenario. But only using luad for specific taks that are slow is not what i'd reccomend. If i would create a campaign now, i'd prob...

Re: [SOLVED] select hex

Maybe for on_mouse_action saving old callback isnt needed then. For other callbacks it is needed. while it is not strictly needed here, it's still better to do it, for example to be compatible with other addons that might also use on_mouse_action as the error message suggests the old callback might...

Re: WML Guide: feedback requested

I'm not really able to see this from a newcomers perspective anymore, so i cannot give you specific feedback but i somehow remember 'A Simple Campaign' and i remember that my first impression i got when downloading that one was that it was not easy at all since it tried to explain too much, in parti...

Re: World Conquest II

hmm ok then I'd be useful to have more information. This issue, at which scenario exactly does it happen? Maybe you have a savefile?

Re: Load Saved Game Causes Error Crash

I also uploaded a new version of campaign drop mod to the server you can now just upload your campaign drop mod addon, load the working file (Banished-Auto-Save4.gz) and the erro will no longer happen.

Re: Building an alternative to ActionWML

ok most here people say that they like any, all, none, not_all more than or, and, nor , nand. So i'll just use those in the mapgenerator filter syntax for now. If we want to add something like "exactly_one_of" we can always do that later. I think this discussion shodul go more toward the original to...

Re: Load Saved Game Causes Error Crash

this seems like a bug in the campaign drop mod, you can fix this by replacing all occurances of 'cdm_min_resistance' with 'wc2_min_resistance' in the .cfg files (not in the .lua files!) of the campaign_drop_mod addon and in your savefile.

Re: A bit of feedback trying to install (compile) wesnoth from source - a few suggestions to improve this part of wesnot

We usually try to make wesnoth buildable with all boost versions newer than the one speicified (not sure about other dependencies), and at least for the windows build i know for sure that it does successfully build with boost 1.68 since this is what our windows ci uses. Also note that the erro you g...

Re: Building an alternative to ActionWML

The [not] tag doesn't make sense extended to higher arities – its underlying operation is "but not", also called material nonimplication, and it's not commutative. However, I think it would make sense to have a "none" option - it's true if all its children are false. If used with only a single chil...

Re: Building an alternative to ActionWML

The biggest problem I can see with that is that you seem to be using all global functions. I don't think we should be polluting the global namespace with lots of functions like that. Hmm i actually don't relly see a problem with that, we could also make it just one global namespace value f and then...

Re: Building an alternative to ActionWML

during my work on the lua map generator https://github.com/wesnoth/wesnoth/pull/3611 i also added a custom lua filter syntax that is usable by the lua map generator, It is currently used like --@a1: terrain to change to, @a2: filter table, more optional named parameters can be given. set_terrain { "...
