Re: Dunefolk Lore - Consolidation

I wouldn't expect nomadic dunefolk to be growing crops in general, honestly. There could be exceptions, but I think nomads would mostly obtain grain only by trading. It would be grown along the river, and maybe near some larger oases.

Re: Expanding The Great Continent - [Dunefolk Habitat]

well there are "ruins" so not sure if there would be just dunefolk or elf, dwarven or some unknown civilization which might change their aspects or technology. Along if they had to compete with the inhabitants in the past. its minor but it does add context to their involvement in the area. Oh, the ...

Re: Dunefolk Lore - Consolidation

Soil degradation is vast topic, you can't just say that leaving it for few years will do, in this case (as well as many others) it won't (It will do in cases when for example you need more organic matter in your soil). Salts won't magically disappear in desert conditions, you need a) special plants...

Re: Dunefolk Lore - Consolidation

So upon attempting to update the main post, I re-read and I noticed something that I after all don't seem to be getting. From that it's not clear to me which part you don't get? The Luminary Council's members are either all Luminaries from every city (if we assume that there are not many). In order...

Re: Expanding The Great Continent - [Dunefolk Habitat]

We do have a great variety of units already made. era of magic, Saurian/Dark Blood Alliance would be perfect for the jungles regions. Cyclopes could be the "ogres" of the region, the orcs could work. The Extended Era some units could be used but I feel they are not from the southern regions. Beside...

Re: Expanding The Great Continent - [Dunefolk Habitat]

So here is the next version. I re-introduced the oasis and made redraw the river to go through Argrhaba up to Al-Shizirad. I spent a lot of time thinking on how to continue the Cloud river and decided to not dwell too much into that direction. Such a big river would spawn probably from a mega mount...

Re: Dunefolk Lore - Consolidation

Also we could have giant duneworms tunneling underneath the deserts. They could pose as a great danger and food source, which makes it essentials for some tribes that don't have other food sources to roam the deserts on the search for the worms. Those tribes could be in need for salt to pickle the ...

Re: Expanding The Great Continent - [Dunefolk Habitat]

Are we abandoning the idea of twin mountains in the middle of the desert, with an oasis that possibly feeds a river linking to Arghraba and Al-Shirizad? Will Al-Shirizad be at the desert's edge in this map, or on the coast? What kind of biome is the light brown in the south, anyway? Not yet, those ...

Re: Dunefolk Lore - Consolidation

Well actually, most of the time, aqueducts are at least partially underground. So you could imagine a huge underground aqueduct (maybe carved in the underground or build and covered so that the dunes pass over it). Well, okay. It might work, if you dig deep enough for more solid ground. We still ne...

Re: Expanding The Great Continent - [Dunefolk Habitat]

Hm, in this map relative to the previous one, I like how the two deserts are more linked together, with desert on both sides of the Cloud River. The Ashland Desert does seems smaller though; but I'm not sure if this is a problem. I would suggest that perhaps the Cloud River originates beyond the des...

Re: [Mainline] A Dunefolk Campaign

In all respect and what be the difference between creating a plague and black magic? To me the chances that the Dunefolk would have today's technology in making such things are near null. It is also hard to believe that who ever created the plague would also make the cure. (they be the first to get...

Re: Expanding The Great Continent - [Dunefolk Habitat]

So I guess Cloud River is the dunefolk Nile, actually… meaning that a hypothetical additional river like I mentioned in a previous post, running from the oasis in the middle of Ashland, thru Anghraba and into the sea at Al-Shizirad, would be a more minor river in comparison. Still, having a second r...

Re: Dunefolk Lore - Consolidation

I quite like this idea since it differentiates the Dunefolk government system from all the sameness of the other nations, it is interesting, it gives space to political intrigue, it is UMC-friendly (I can imagine periods of Dunefolk history during which the "Council of Paragons" is under the heel o...

Re: Dunefolk Lore - Consolidation

That is true. I just used the term to describe what ever it was but it shouldn't have given it a definitive meaning. After hearing your proposal i think something that goes into the direction of a "weighted" democracy makes sense. In a "weighted" Democracy I understand that the votes in the governi...
