Re: Wesnoth archers need an upgrade

People on the internet put their angry hat on and rant. But from the blog post: We’re told “modern archers use only one hand, but in the past, some archers allegedly used both hands to give the arrow more power.” This is utter nonsense, unless you’re talking about one-armed archers like Jeff Fabry. ...

Re: Wesnoth archers need an upgrade

Advantages of slings: Cheap portable ammo readily available long range less affected by bad weather blunt damage, much like a mace Advantages of bows: accurate able to pierce armor can fire faster powerful (one account of a longbow arrow going through the rider's legs and the horse) If you were equi...

Re: Improving castles in cave transitions

OT, but the castle hex looks off upon closer inspection- I've attached what I think is an improvement. The front right (or SE) part of the battlement's merlon looks collapsed currently.

Re: Wesnoth archers need an upgrade

I imagine bows replaced slings for their armor-piercing qualities if anything else.

In one of Lars' other videos there is a comparison of him shooting vs Legolas in LotR, it's funny that he is faster than a special effect!

Wesnoth archers need an upgrade

This guy should be an Easter egg in HttT :P https://www.youtube.com/watch?x-yt-cl=8 ... EG-ly9tQGk

There is also some interesting archer history tucked among the crazy archery

The messenger is a cool idea, one thing you could do is change his hair from the original, give him a ponytail or headband, maybe even taller. :hmm:

*I also like the Initiate :)

To me in both your edit and the original the humerus is too long, which makes the elbow look too low. I just raised it up a bit.

Also, having animations with few frames can still work out nicely, and in-betweens can be added later, even by less skilled spriters.

Re: Change title screen music

In general, the more options you fork out to the users, the less control the developers have over the experience of the product. Wesnoth is over-burdened by options as it is, way more than an average user needs, so I'm against adding any more. My fear is the music gets changed, but then people begi...

Re: [Poll] Should the default animation speed be increased?

I agree to keep it slow for beginners and let them increase it later. A while back I posted a bug/feature request that dealt with the accelerated speed hotkey- when you set the default speed above 1.0, the accelerated key functionality goes away. It'd be nice to be able to adjust the range manually,...

Re: [1.12] Offline instalation on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

I'm a pretty amateur software compiler, but it seems to me the ideal thing to do would be to put the needed outside libraries (static?) in the source folder, compile wesnoth using those libraries and voila, you have a self contained folder that you can run and hack wesnoth from. It can be done, Blen...

Re: Change title screen music

A common thing on websites that have music is a little checkbox to disable music. Having a checkbox in the main launch screen that would remember the preference seems like a good solution.

I also don't get why power users simply don't delete the offending music file from their build

Re: Change title screen music

I have a question- is the issue with the current opening music mostly with devs/UMC devs who get subjected with it every time they F5? I can see how it could be annoying then (I recall Fabi mentioning this a while back). An option in the sound preferences to disable opening music would be the best d...

Re: Change title screen music

What about looking to some non-mainline music? East Meets West is a nice song, it's not depressing or slow but exciting. Do you want players to open the game and be sad, or get psyched to play? Also, it would be weird to hear the intro song during gameplay, unless it is when a campaign gets won or s...
