Re: General tip: Don't draw eyes

I support the idea 5% of the time.

But that is just my opinion.
Maybe we should have a vote to determine the ratio of time that eyes and "no eyes" versions should be displayed.

Re: Mudcrawlers

(Oh, just been ninja-ed) There are some things that I am suspicious about: Left: the side of head does not have enough shadow (not that I would be completely convinced by my own edit, but I hope it helps to understand what I mean). Even if the head is meant to merge into body more there must be some...

Re: NR wrap-up (finally)

Hidel: first noticed how his right side of chest looks strange under his right armpit, and then how his lighter colored clothing in front looks like it is asymmetrically balanced towards his left side. Ro'Sothian: awesome pose for the character as I remember it (was some years ago when I played it, ...

Re: Monsters!

The previous scorpion had nice small and sharp speculars, like a chitin shell might have.
Not to be misunderstood, the new version looks great in geometry and the details, and in my peanut opinion certainly better overall.

Re: Mudcrawlers

Have you looked at the mudcrawlers in-game, on terrain and next to other units? I mean, to check if the palette looks too radioactive in-game. (Also, there is one detail that the old mudcrawlers had that I miss a little bit in the new ones: the old mudcrawlers closed their eyes while shooting the mu...

Re: Standing and idle animations?

You might try to figure out the center of mass of the sword. The sword looks like a cutlass or machete kind of thing, which is a top-heavy chopping sword, rather than like a fencing sword. Therefore, the center of mass should be near the tip of the sword, 1/3 the length of the sword max, but probabl...

Re: homunculus's two pixels

Well, there are two major things I think I need to learn in order to become better at spriting, pixel clustering and color neighborhood. For a start with the clustering, it would make sense to try to animate the new tentacle. Out of inertia, and out of curiosity to find out if I have progressed at r...

Re: How do I tell who drew what artwork?

Spoiler:
i have always thought something like this could be useful for 'created by' and 'modified by' history, and also licensing statement.
unfortunately, i have not seen this enabled for png or gif.
maybe there is some way to add some metadata to a png?

Re: homunculus's two pixels

I think those are the clam finals. No walk animation, although I was so happy with myself for inventing a better clam walk than evolution did : )). I hope the cfg-s work, gargantuan clam cfg was checked in-game, but used copy-paste from BfW 1.10 cfg for the first part of giant clam cfg, and then rep...

Re: Portraits for Coming of the Storm. WIP.

[...]But I think it's the eye curve. They slop down giving her a sleepy look. Could be the eye-shadow that's giving me a wrong impression there. Eyebrows would be the best between the 1st image and this one.[...] Or maybe the shear transform? I think this 'shear -5' (five degrees, maybe?) is overdo...

Re: Starting on a portrait?

wesnoth_portrait_rc1_wesnothianoutlines130516.jpg Changed to "Wesnothian" outlines (black-> desaturated colour), inked sash, reworked right hand, better matched hand colours, reworked cuffs on both arms I am mainly unhappy about the hair. There is also an issue with matching values across...

Re: Gallery of One's Failure

Interesting, I thought you were talking about the huge gap between the legs all the time.
I mean, the legs might overlap instead (green = right leg, red = left leg)?
Maybe I overdid the angle, so maybe not quite like that.

Re: Ideas for a UI facelift

@SFault: I also like less contrasting GUI-s. That means I think even the "a" borders are too bright, it could be like the darker color of the second border on top, perhaps even darker. Which would make the material look like copper or bronze. (the same way, the golden hex could be thinner ...

Re: homunculus's two pixels

You have done well with the few colors you are using for all of these sprites. You mean, I am using too few colors and should use more because the shading creates contrast lines between the areas? The peasant woman's pose looks a little ill-at-ease, like her back has endured years of hard labor and...

Birds seem to move more and less than you'd expect: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vARD17nQjg At slow speeds it looks like they move more forwards and backwards than up and down. That probably has something to do with more horizontal movement of wings ;) http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query...
