Re: Dark Sorcerer tank

In light of this, its low fire resistance and arcane weakness actually get translated into a 40% fire weakness and 60% arcane weakness on a 36 hp unit. So it actually fares worse against these damage types than most other Undead units do. Actually, -80% vs fire and -120% vs arcane would be the prop...

Re: Dark Sorcerer tank

High HP or not, won't it die to a couple of attacks from pretty much any lv2 units? 48 HP ain't that high when many lv2s surpass 30 dmg total with their main attack. Besides, being mainly a ranged unit exposes him to being attacked by the vast mayority of melee units (a whole lot of them being blade...

Re: Mages like to weak next to other magical units.

You just proved that undead vs loys is very unbalanced in such small maps. With start time at dawn and as P1 undead on such a small map, you had all the advantages in your favor. You could've won that even loy mages had 35 HP or costed 16 gold ... or both. :annoyed: Try one of the mainline 1v1 maps.

Re: Looking for suggestions

My first advice: Learn to shrug off losses. Wining is not that important, losing is not that bad. There is no real consequence to either result. At the end, the game just ends and you can start another one. It's very hard to learn to control your own reaction to losing. Playing Wesnoth should be fun...

Re: been defeated but don't know why

How about triggering a dialog some turns before the limit. It could say something like "hurry,we only have a day left" (1 day = 6 turns).

Re: Portraits: Drakes

All of these drakes with their armors on (nice job, btw) get me wondering how would they go about strapping that armor on, you know with their anatomy (wings kinda get in the way :lol2: ). My guess is a set of straps around the lower back to hold the lower part of the armor, an another strap around...

Re: Portraits: Drakes

Don't know if it would work any better but can't the burner breathe out the fire instead. That is, have the flames coming out of the front of the snout, rather than just floating upwards thru the sides. The way I imagine is that drakes are resistant to fire, yes, but it would be quite uncomfortable ...

Re: Common Sense Compendium: Now with more General Advice

Especially Drake players should be wary about their leaders - sure, they're fast and hit like a freight train, but two spearmen or dark adepts can bring them down from full health to dead in one go. Wary? I'd rather use my (drake) leader freely. When my leader is killed, then I know I put him in to...

Re: How to play - Undeads vs Knalgans - Huumy

Campaigns vs AI are very, very different from playing vs a human player. These kind of threads are targetted at multiplayer vs another human player, which will recruit footpads/thieves/etc.

Maybe one day when AI's recruiting is improved, it will also recruit appropiately.

Re: Useful Replays to watch for learning

I personally just tend to join random games as an observer, in case I don't feel like playing myself. Other than that, there are a few threads with interesting/fun replays to watch. I guess any replays that involves the factions you need help with is good. I believe that a good wesnoth player is tra...

Re: The Art of Deception

Sun Tzu says: “Those skilled at making the enemy move do so by creating a situation to which he must conform. They entice him with something he is certain to take, and with lures of ostensible profit, they wait for him in strength.” I guess this is more of a mind game than pure deception. In Wesnoth...

Re: Annoyance of ambush and move+attack

If a skirmisher unit gets ambushed, it also loses all of its remaining MP. Don't know what happens when the ambusher itself lacks ZoC, though. Do you know you can just press 'Esc' or use the cancel button in the Attack dialog to cancel the attack? In the latest stable release the attack dialog pops ...

Re: Portraits: Drakes

I get the feeling that the Enforcer is turning, like he has just finished off an enemy at his left and now is turning to face the camera (and his next target). So probably reflecting that on the loincloth might add to the dynamism of the portrait. :)
