Re: Wesnoth Magic Compendium

Agreed, Summon is the wrong word for the undead units. I'd use "Raise" or "Animate" instead, thanks. It's still the correct word for Fire Guardians since they're supposed to come from somewhere else according to the unit description, and are actually being summoned magically. --- As for magical item...

Re: Wesnoth Bestiary Development Thread

Two suggestions regarding the Bestiary: 1. The unit pages should show which Default era multiplayer factions they belong to, i.e, Loyalists, Rebels, Drakes, Knalgans, Northerners, Undead or None. The Mage would be both Loys and Rebs, and the exotic units like the Armageddon would be placed under Non...

Re: REQUEST - Clone horseman gallop to knight.

Since I'm not an artist and can't post in the Art Dev forums, I'll say it here: Epic job on the new horses! They look brilliant. :D

Salutations to all the artists working on them. ^_^

Re: Wesnoth Magic Compendium

Oh no, I'm pretty sure the Rogue Magi use black magic. It says so in their unit description. So that's certain, and also reinforced by the names and cold damage of their spells. As to whether they're involved in any kind of white magic, that's doubtful. They have no hint of white magic abilities - n...

Incorrect resistances

Hi, Just reporting that the Units Reference for the Trunk Mainline units is showing some incorrect resistance values, that differ from the in-game values for Wesnoth 1.9.5: http://units.wesnoth.org/trunk/C/Fire%20Drake.html - Fire Drakes have 60% fire resist, Infernos 80%, Armags 100%. http://units....

Re: Cheating, difficulty, and a challenge to expert players.

I did not finish the second scenario early for the bonus. However, I beat both with no save-loads, no big deal. Yeah, it's easy to complete the first two scenarios, but if you intend to get through the rest of them you need to consider your recall list. It isn't as bad as I thought at first, and ot...

Re: Wesnoth Magic Compendium

I like it, including those damage output formulas. :D I assume that by mainline you mean units in the core folder as oppossed to those used only by a certain campaign (the abovementioned orcish shamans who are only in Son of the Black Eye), but some of them are used in campaigns only anyways (AFAIK...

Re: I think I gonna give up....

Don't be discouraged by ladder losses - it's part of the game. The points mean nothing - I just see the ladder as a good way of getting some good one-on-one competition, as people are much more likely to join a ladder game than they are to join a casual one-on-one (unless they're a personal friend o...

Wesnoth Magic Compendium

Hi, Out of random boredom I decided to create a little compendium of all the different classes of magic used in mainline Wesnoth, with lore from the campaigns and unit/race descriptions providing information to the background nature of the various magic types and my own theory filling in a few gaps ...

Yeah, 'scepter' in NR being the Rod of Whasitzname, which is typically given to the loyal Royal Guard.

Re: Weaker Bats

That bats have only 40% in flat villages is nothing new. They did have 60% on "terrain villages" (hills, water, etc.), though. This is a big enough change to make an impact though. Their village stealing would be slightly hindered without 60% on terrained villages (and there are lots of swamp, wate...

Re: Missing in-game race descriptions in the BfW help.

The Woses The wose description goes more heavily into speculation (or more specifically, stating speculation as fact) than I prefer. If you'd like to generate new lore about woses, I have no objection to that, but it would probably best be done in another thread. Exactly. If you want to use stuff g...

Re: Missing in-game race descriptions in the BfW help.

This started as a basic edit of Skrim's proposal, but I kept finding ideas that wanted developed, so I did a much more invasive rewrite. Consequently this is a first draft of a new proposal than an edit of that prop. The Woses are an ancient and reclusive race who are tree-like in appearance. These...

Re: Level2 Max / Lancers Paladins

In multiplayer, the inability to go to level 3 is not an issue, since most games(there are exceptions) don't last long enough for you to collect the required amount of XP for a level-3, at the standard 70% level-up requirement. In those situations, you might want the alt-unit rather than the full-ad...
