Re: Khalifate feedback thread
One stat anomaly I noticed. The Khaiyal-Faris-Mufariq line has consistent resists (20% arcane, 10% impact, -20% cold, 30% blade) and the Rami-Saree-Jawal line has consistent resists (20% arcane, -10% impact, -10% pierce, 10% blade), but the Qanas-Hadaf line of shared advancements first uses Rami res...

Re: How Khalifate reached in Wesnoth?
AFAIK there is a great desert to the south of Wesnoth according to the geography page, farther south than the Aethenwood. The Khalifate probably live there and in other hilly and desert regions to the far south and southeast. How they got there is unknown. It is however certain that, indeed, they ar...

Khalifate Unit Descriptions
Hello all. As the Khalifate faction have been mainlined, I've begun a project to write new unit descriptions for them. Most of their units lack descriptions or have rather poor old ones, but whatever scraps of lore I could glean from those descriptions have implemented here. Given this, I'll be shel...

Re: AMLA strategy
The best lvl 3 unit to give kills to if you have no still-levelable units around would be the Ghast. It gains 1 HP with every kill, so combining kills with AMLAs would result in massive amounts of HP in time to create an uber tank. Given that DiD is infinitely long, this could actually be done. Othe...

Re: logic for multiple reactionary attacks???
No, THIS game needs reactionary attacks to be balanced.
A comparison of Wesnoth to Chess is a non-argument. It's like saying Warcraft 2 has gnomes and therefore Wesnoth should have gnomes too. With regards as to whether Wesnoth needs reactionary attacks or not, it proves nothing.

Re: The Uselessness of the Merman Spearman
So, sometimes, like when facing Drakes, the Merman Spearman is not totally useless. What about nerfing the Netcasters/Entanglers? I find they are "too" useful, relative to other level 2/3 units. And nerfing them would also help make the Spearmen more useful. I would suggest dramatically r...

Re: logic for multiple reactionary attacks???
It would also decrease the usefulness of non-magical ranged attackers, i.e, archers. Their entire shtick is that they don't get the retaliation that melee units do and that they can attack (rather prevalent) melee-only units with impunity whilst the same can be said of melee attackers only in one sp...

Re: The Uselessness of the Merman Spearman
So it's just a Hunter++ for the sake of there needing to be one? Ok... it's still usually useless, though. A 7-4 ranged that allows it to better take advantage of its daytime bonus could make it more widely useful against general enemies, not just its optimum targets (drakes and horses). And given R...

The Uselessness of the Merman Spearman
Hi, There's one unit I've noticed to be usually useless in campaigns and multiplayer, with an alternative that is in most cases more useful. This would be the Merman Spearman, one of the advancements of the Merman Hunter. I see almost no situations where this unit would be preferable over the altern...

Re: [Mainline] Give ranged first strike to Master-at-Arms
I'd oppose this change; Firststrike implies that the Master's ranged weapon has exceptionally long range. It doesn't. Speaking in thematic and realistic terms, the longbows of the human Longbowman and Elvish Marksman lines, if nothing else, should have longer range, and speaking from a game balance ...

Re: logic for multiple reactionary attacks???
As for fairness, I don't see how it can possibly be considered unfair that you face retaliatory attacks. It's a game mechanic, its a rule, everyone follows it - you, the AI, other players, everyone.
How is it 'unfair'?

Re: logic for multiple reactionary attacks???
No, it's neither illogical nor unfair. If you attack a unit and that unit can defend itself, it will. The retaliation damage is a risk you have to factor in when you initiate an attack - if you don't and your units are heavily damaged or killed by retaliation damage, it's your fault only. Avoiding r...

Re: Drakes vs Orc
Hmm. This map is quite tiny in terms of battlespace, kind of clustered. Bad news for Drakes, especially when faced with a first night assault from the Orcs or UD that they cannot hold out against and don't have much room to retreat from. The Orcs were upon your front line villages by dusk and could'...

Re: Wesnoth Magic Compendium
Umm, I don't think the bats are related to actual magic of black magic users. Necromancers just tame them and keep them as useful pets, according to their race description. The Mermen in Dead Water kept one too.
