Re: Selectable Unit Traits: A Proposal for Future Versions
On the other hand I totally agree that normally being able to pick your stats would throw off the balance of the game. We'd see tons of strong/resilient units or whatever happened to be the most advantageous for a certain unit type. Sooo... players being able to pick their traits would throw off th...

Re: Selectable Unit Traits: A Proposal for Future Versions
Isn't the point of traits to make units different? If you could pick traits every infantry would be strong resilient. Whoopie. Just remove them completely and detract from the aspect of uniqueness between units. Not at all, actually. Can you imagine what a disaster that philosophy would be on certa...

Selectable Unit Traits: A Proposal for Future Versions
As the game currently stands, the traits of the units that you recruit in-game are not under your control. This has always been an issue that has seemed both odd and irritating to me, considering that BfW is a strategy game ! Just yesterday I was playing against an opponent and I came to the realiza...

A couple more replays...
Edit: In retrospect, very poor playing by opponents, but the fundamental ideas that these tactics were based on are solid, I think.

Re: Blitzkrieg! (the value of speed in Wesnoth)
Here we go again. This one started really well, then my inability to play HODOR (particularly my decision to attack the archer on the left) turned it downhill. It could have ended badly for me (although my calculations indicate that he was hemorrhaging gold, so once he lost those units, he's was pr...

Re: Blitzkrieg! (the value of speed in Wesnoth)
You'll notice I was switching to poachers at the end. Yah, I noticed that... but the game itself only lasted 6 turns. Anyways, I like the idea of ulfing village holders, then replacing with footpad or whatever. The idea of an ulf-supported blitz still appeals to me. Further research will be needed ...

Re: Blitzkrieg! (the value of speed in Wesnoth)
Well, I'll say straight up that my quick win was through my opponent's mistake. I went with a footpad-ulf rush on Freelands against a player that picked Drakes. As I commented at the end, even if he hadn't exposed his leader, I was still in a pretty good position. Edit: Decided to post this here an...

Re: B.U.R.S. (Bizarre and Unusual Recruit Styles)
thats a big list, i started with 1: loyalists no pierce when looking at the game, u realize that the 1 mage was also not necessary. leveled almost every cavalry XD but what i ACTUALLY wanted to say was, there should be a challenge room where almost impossible combos are tried out when facing a cert...

Re: Blitzkrieg! (the value of speed in Wesnoth)
Weldyn_Outlaw_blitz_(1).gz Successful (barely) win over Janitor (tied for 9th on ladder) on Weldyn. About 7 turns, but it was intense. Very well played by Janitor, and a lot of luck for me and my footpads. P.S. I would not recommend using crazy strategies such as the one presented here on any kind ...

Re: The Archive of HODOR
One more team HODOR post for the archives. Me and Xiv pwned some loyalist and undead ass (both leaders killed on turn 10, plus complete destruction of both armies). At the end, one of the guys asks for a rematch, but xiv wanted a break and I wanted to play a game with oesis. To this, the blue player...

Re: B.U.R.S. (Bizarre and Unusual Recruit Styles)
hi guys, here another example of a rather unusual initial recruitment: going ALL nagas, while the stats told me that i built 10 nagas in total on that map. sounds interesting ? it is !!! poor smozes certainly didnt expect this http://i530.photobucket.com/albums/dd341/woodmouse_/fighter-idle.gif Lov...

Re: The Archive of HODOR
The blitz idea as donkey expresses it was in fact extended from HODOR. :eng: More or less, yes. I noticed from watching HODOR (the ladder player) replays that virtually every game he was blitzing, most of the time with shocking results. On a side, note, recently I have come to realize the awesomene...

Re: B.U.R.S. (Bizarre and Unusual Recruit Styles)
because i was asked to post a successful "all poachers" strategy, and because Quetzalcoatl announced to show me his orc rush i decided there might be no better place to post the game. i was player 2 btw. This was a Poacher storm vs. a Grunt rush, not against a normal strategy. Quetz also ...
