Re: Lamps and Megarace - homemade multiplayer strategy game

I have no idea if it should work in linux or not. Forgive me my windows-centeredness* :)

*Is that a word?

EDIT: This indeed does work only on Windows. I could give you the source code but theres absolutely now way to compile it for anything else than Windows and maybe Mac also.

Re: Lamps and Megarace - homemade multiplayer strategy game

They are not stolen but they do represent southparc characters. 2 of them to be precise. Im not sure if I can make a game with characters from SB? Im sure not all the games with SB characters have an agreement with Southpark Studios. Im willing to kick them out any time of course if its illegal for ...

Lamps and Megarace - homemade multiplayer strategy game

Download: http://batoonike.indrek.org/lampsandmegarace.zip Lamps and Megarace is multiplayer strategy game we've been developing with a few friends. It has "sim turns": each player gives orders to their units and hits "Im ready". When everyones ready, all units try to make their move. So you dont ha...

Re: Are 1vs1 statiscics collected shomewhere?

Need to dig up the good thread. 1800 games is actually a huge sample. You can use most statistical methods with 60+ observations (ala games) and some with like... 30 or just 5 observations. Im sure most medicines* are tested with much less than 1800 people before going into mass production :) But su...

Re: Defence strategies? (for the AI)

-Consider time of day in cases when its obvious, like drakes vs undead, neutrals vs loyalists, and attack or retreat accordingly.
-When retreating because of bad ToD, keep just 1 hex out of the opponents best moves so when ToD changes the AI can react right away.

Since theres too little talk about drakes anyway...

Im still curious, what you do if you turn out to be like a drake warrior for example?* Lets say theres a sorceress, knight, thief, elvish marksman and elvish hero. All the games ive seen so far the drakes just get eaten up as a fastfood, since they cant run anywhere at night and theres always someon...

Re: Hulavuta's Drake Strategy Guide

If the Augur levels up in the middle of a big fight, make it an Oracle, which has strong attack power and has the same healing skills. If the Saurian Levels up in a near safe area, make it a soothsayer to protect units from poison and to heal them for later fights. I believe the soothsayers +8 heal...

Royal Rumble: Classic strategies

Couldnt find a topic on this. Tips: *if you equip the "Charisma" item before reqruiting, all your units reqruited afterwards have 0 upkeep, even though it doesnt say that. Its not totally imbalanced, since in some cases its still better to take another item and not charisma, but I think everyone sho...

Re: Such a shame

That would complitely remove any motivation to do well in the previous scenario money-wise.

Though it sure is strange if its nearly impossible to win because you didnt know what to expect.

Its very old thread but why would you build a forest on the outer side of your moat? Is the extra slowdown that good?

Re: Are 1vs1 statiscics collected shomewhere?

Quetzalcoatl can the p1-p2 wins per map be taken out? From the elo_1000 short game(7 - 14 turns) statistics the player 1 win ratio vs player 2 seems to be just a little bit too high (~65% vs 35%), which is a bit less in all rank_1000 game statistics but still significant ~60% vs 40%. This might part...

Re: Hero basics

Basicly in multiplayer, if there are only the 2 starting keeps on the map, I would stay most of the time somewhere between the main battle and my keep, so that it looks scary and the hero can rush in if neccessary or get to keep in 1 turn. That in case your hero happens to be something useful, like ...

Re: Colosseum - first round buy discussion

Didnt see it mentioned here so: theoreticly your number of strikes should equal to 3.5 x damage, to get the maximum damage output for your cash. This is of course not true, if you need more reliable damage. Then take more strikes. So your thunderer should have 5 or 6 strikes before upgrading damage,...

Re: A Strategy Guide for FFA Games

Thanks. What was meant by "until" was like "if a and b hold, it is not too late to win". In my language it would be "until" in this case :) "While" sounds strange, but if youre still 100% sure ill change it.
