I like both the shields quite a lot. I like the style of your shield, but GunChleoc's says 'wesnoth' a lot more. Although I like the village, and even think the current one is fine, I do think a shield would make for a more 'unified' icon for both the game and the website. My vote goes for GunChleoc...

People might be able to see a post from a long time ago might not be accurate anymore, especially if they see the last upload is much more recent.

The fighter unit seems to have a wrong image path, or one defense frame must be missing, because there's one image not found frame in the defense animation. It wasn't at all related to The Fall of Wesnoth.I don't know about any sequel to The Fall of Wesnoth. Some campaigns, like The Settlers of Light, might be somewhat related, but I have never heard of any official sequel to it.

After testing it more, it seems to be an issue with the animation engine, making duration= not work with the new syntax.

I just discovered Mago de Oz, a Spanish metal band. It goes very well with Wesnoth. They use a flute and violin to accent their music, which gives it a medieval sound. Wesnoth has a very specific magenta palette. The (only) colors that work are the ones on the attached image (also located in images/tools). The sprites actually don't look that bad.
