Re: Heir to the Throne Update (Current Focus: S1)

I honestly didn't play your version, I was just alarmed by the "more challenge" and terrain altering I read about. I'd ask you to play before decrying that it is one or the other. If you have read through this thread, I am trying to improve HttT, not set out just to make it harder and a barrier to ...

Re: Heir to the Throne Update (Current Focus: S1)

Yet, I could as well have lost this scenario at both normal and hard. I don't think a novice player could win it smoothly (maybe only on easy), and this might discourage some players who find the first real scenario they play to be too difficult. To sum up, I think normal should be just a little ea...

Re: Heir to the Throne Update (Current Focus: S1)

I have tried it on hard, which is hard but not unplayable. I was able to win on the first attempt without reloading saves. In my opinion the scenario is well balanced and enjoyable, although it does not fit the label of easy campaign (it is more intermediate). Not an easy campaign, even on easy/nor...

Re: Introduce yourself here!

Well, I guess this is technically a reintroduction :) many many years ago, when my voice was just starting to crackle and squeak, I was known on this forum as Assasin. Years passed, I stopped playing, and now I have semi-returned as tooitalian. It's pretty much my handle everywhere. Don't see too m...

Re: Heir to the Throne Update (Current Focus: S1)

This may be a radical idea for this first scenario, but if the orcs are going to provide a lot more challenge, could the turn limit be removed? Seeing as how the orc threat forces you to run fast or lose anyway. I'm not opposed to radical, but then there would be no gold bonus for the player finish...

Re: Li'sar's Characterization in HttT (Spoilers)

If anything, I think the existing two lines could be even further condensed by merging them, to avoid the subtle repetition in "made war upon Delfador and his forces" and "did indeed meet Delfador face-to-face in battle". Something along the lines of: "Eldred made war upon Delfador and his forces w...

Re: Li'sar's Characterization in HttT (Spoilers)

I like your first suggestion, and I altered the following passage as well to make it fit better. [part] story= _ "On the eve of battle, Eldred scanned the loyalist army with his mother’s advice ringing in his ears: <i>“Fight no one great or small except the old mage, whose head should be severed fro...

Re: Li'sar's Characterization in HttT (Spoilers)

I actually meant to say that it was me who came up with that idea as it seems I overlooked your earlier point and reinvented it At this point, it very well could be and I'm getting it all confused, so I will happily concede it was your idea. It's reached the point of melding as to who said what. :l...

Re: Li'sar's Characterization in HttT (Spoilers)

You do not send your son in a duel against someone who can incinerate you with one magical lightning strike (except - and this thought just came upon me - if for some reason she was convinced that Defaldor would never kill Eldred and thus he would have the highest chance of any soldier to actually ...

Re: Li'sar's Characterization in HttT (Spoilers)

Yes, earlier on, the original script does say "Garard’s queen, Asheviere, looked on with glee, having come to watch the battle from a nearby hill. The rule of her son would surely satisfy her lust for power far better than her husband’s had." This too can be interpreted in different ways. Instead o...

Re: Heir to the Throne Update (Current Focus: S1)

I tried this 4th version on intermediate difficulty. This is way more challenging than the previous one. At times I felt really pressed, overall it has the feeling of a 'run or die' situation. I wonder if it is not excessively challenging for a supposedly easy campaign (and I also wonder how hard i...

Re: Li'sar's Characterization in HttT (Spoilers)

I think you indeed disremember and even in Turuks new version, this is still part of the plot. Her glee is caused by her son being easier to manipulate, I see no connection to her sending him to his death or not. The following you seem to have missed in both the original and Turuks version: Code: [...

Re: Li'sar's Characterization in HttT (Spoilers)

I personally enjoy the aspect of Asheviere actually loving her son, Eldred, instead of sending him too to his death and becoming extremely mad with power. With her grief over her son's passing, it shows that even the Dark Queen Asheviere had some remnant of humanity left in her. Yeah, that line plu...

Re: Li'sar's Characterization in HttT (Spoilers)

To tackle all of them in one post... If we go with a Li'sar that is (because of to little exposure or denial) not really aware of her mothers crimes instead of being involved, that scenario fits perfectly. Otherwise I think it would have to be played differently for her to suspect the elves and have...

Re: Li'sar's Characterization in HttT (Spoilers)

That might work to make an alliance between her and the rebels completely impossible or at least a pure act of pragmatism. If it is revealed as a lie later on that might be possible, but if it is the truth, it would be hard to pull off a cohesive ending because it would mean that the elves would no...
