Re: Ideas for a UI facelift

looks too flat&clear (esp considering how most of wesnoth UI & terrain is grainy and even your new mockups have 1px wide lines)? maybe add a texture on top of the blue thing, maybe just add noise... glass or not, it would fit in better with the rest.

Re: Color change of the movement orb

no offense but i'm not sure if anyone will ever want to modify that (other than for the purpose of trying out all the things you can change in Settings)

Re: What is the appeal of a rogue-like game?

But pure text games have their advantages, too. You rely on your direct senses much less to interpret what's going on. There's less input, which forces you to use your imagination, which some people consider a good thing. That's not a reason to use TEXT D: It's a lazy choice and even slight improve...

Re: What is the appeal of a rogue-like game?

Yes, this happens with realistic depictions. Now try with Bowman, Archer, Trapper --- perfectly beautiful sprites, but which is which? What is "Archer"? They ARE very similar in gameplay terms. Compare Bowman to a Forest terrain or to an altar. They are very different. Compare Bowman to a Yeti or t...

Re: ChaosRider arts!!!

The main problem is that it needs a lot more frames. Also I think you should add 2 more layers of the same thing and make them rotate across different axises like this:

I don't understand your bit about "T3xtsp34k", it has been years since I last saw someone randomly replace letters with numbers?

I think it's mostly an early 00ties thing, if evoked today then for nostalgic reference, then your twitter and facebook references are rather anachronistic?

The moment I thought of "gif with youtube video for background music", I knew in my heart that such a site existed.

Re: Outsider Art for Bad Moon Rising

i meant photoshop's overlay blend mode; you're right, gimp's overlay blend mode is different; it was silly of me to assume that gimp devs would have the good sense to follow the industry standard program's definitions.

Re: Outsider Art for Bad Moon Rising

i think what would work well for something like the skull is, you take everything to a layer, lock the transparency, duplicate layer, blur the above layer with some large size parameter (50?) and set the above layer to overlay blend mode! maybe then play around with the opacirty of the above layer t...

Re: Games discussion

I played Skyrim! I enjoyed the game - definitely the best Elder Scrolls game yet - but the dungeons (indoors enemy areas) were definitely the weakest part of the game. They were very linear and very... consistent in the worst sense psossible - for every room there w as a consistent set of enemies t...
