Re: WesMod Part I art work (pre-history)

Idea:

level1, quarter roomba

level2, half roomba (
Image)

level3, three quarters roomba.

No full roomba because that might be infringing.

Re: Games discussion

exploration as a separate thing is not what i meant - what i meant was, an exists-by-itself feeling for. I tried Gothic a while back but, it forced you to fight in melee against other melee creatures, in the beginning of the game and for what i could tell for at least most of the rest of it? I liked...

Re: Invasion from the Unknown

when i tried to play iftu - i didnt make it very far - this was definitely one of my main turn offs D: i think the biggest part of it is the resistances. resistances are the kind of thing that you do not memorize completely probably - but you develop an intuition for roughly what they are for any un...

Re: Will be Wesnoth forever 2D-only?

i think a big problem with 3d is that most of Wesnoth takes place on land. Most creatures of Wesnoth cannot fly. That said I do not think wesnoth should take placein air because very few flying creatures would be in air 24/7 like balloons - so it'd be silly to have eg griffins remain continuously se...

And you replied to that. So no, you have not been "responding to people who implied that there are functional advantages", you've been responding to me discussing advantages in general. You are obviously confused about what you have said, let me help you: after "but that's not really the issue at h...

Re: What is the appeal of a rogue-like game?

I mean, look at DF screenshots in graphical tilesets they are if anything harder to parse (even if you spent time to get used to the tiles). No, the graphical tilesets of DF are much easier to parse. Eg one big reason is that tiles that make up large areas like grasses and rocks, are handled much b...

Re: What is the appeal of a rogue-like game?

Still a matter of taste and what you're used to. Most roguelike enthusiasts would still prefer the pure ASCII version even if something else is available. And there's nothing "lazy" about making a game that appeals to a certain audience, such as roguelike enthusiasts, especially if you're making a ...
