UMC music maintainer(s) ahoy

Instead of necroing up the old thread where I posted my UMC music some years ago, here is some more stuff. Most of the tracks are already in the UMC repo but there's a few additional ones as well.

And in case it needs to be said, I'm dual-licensing this under the GPL Wesnoth uses.

Re: My orchestral soundtrack

OK, I had a listen to these tracks. While you have a lot of nice musical ideas and your samples are good for the most part, your music has a lot of pretty severe relism issues. Machine gun-like staccatos and undynamic phrasing of notes on many instruments being the most glaring ones. There's also so...

Re: My orchestral soundtrack

To get your music included in mainline, it has to be approved by a Lord of Music, which is pretty hopeless nowadays - none of them are really active now. Well, I am in fact active-ish again :) jeko1988, you have a lot of stuff on your site, is there any particular piece you want me to listen more c...

Resources for music contributors Mk II

OK, as per marcusvinicius's request , here's a new attempt at a composer's resource thread. Presently it's just stuff from the top of my head. Feel free to add your suggestions, I really don't remember what was in the old thread. Please keep in mind that this is all stuff that people are offering fo...

Re: Where is the topic of resourcers for composers?

I think most of people who buy products like Kontakt don't care much about those questions, for most of the professional producers the only thing that really matters is the quality and how pratical is the sampler, how many features it has... Yes I agree, that seems to be the case and that is what s...

Who needs cute wintry UMC music?

Here

Not actually composed with Wesnoth in mind but it does sound a bit Wesnothy, kind of like the winter version of Silvan Sanctuary or something.

Not completely finished, give me a day or two before you start putting this into your campaigns. If anyone wants to, that is :P

Re: Where is the topic of resourcers for composers?

Kontakt's price today is 200 bucks , a little expensive but it seems it comes with a huge library of instruments, I think it's a good deal. To each his own and all that, but I refuse to have anything to do with a company that uses an encrypted monolithic file format. If Native Instruments files for...

Re: Where is the topic of resourcers for composers?

Here we use to have a topic that had resourcers for composers such as soundfonts, VST's and etc... Where is that topic? Someone (not me) must have deleted it, and it was probably just as well. Last time I checked most of those links were dead, and that was more than two years ago. Wherever it is, I...

Re: regarding donation links for music composers

I think some of the older tracks could be updated, too. Yes, probably. I've been out of the loop for a while so I don't know which tracks that would be. Have we had any oldies updated since Northerners? Also, this post of mine from a couple of years ago sums up my thoughts on the matter pretty good...

Re: regarding donation links for music composers

Music commissions is a tricky thing. Primary problem being: who decides what music is needed and who gets paid to do it? Surely not the LoM's as this would be a clear case of self interest bias. Also, how much more music does Wesnoth really need? Is all the music we have even being used? I certainly...

Re: A question of using music.

classical music Classical music is normally in the public domain and free for anyone to use and adapt. However, RECORDINGS of classical music are usually copyrighted so you would need to record (parts of) a piece yourself based on the sheet music. Edit: Right, I see now that by "classical musi...

Re: Is my music suitable for Wesnoth?

Tyler's the main man around here these days and I'm not going to try and second guess his opinion. But FWIW, I think you'll have more luck getting some music in the game once you get EWQLSO, given the new sample requirements for the game. Muscially you have a lot of nice things going on but Miroslav...
