I'm not sure ghouls would work. They seem pretty personality-less to me. You are a basically decent guy. Unfortunately, you've died and been brought back to life, albeit a rather more putrid, decomposing version of life. You were a soldier before, so you've got used to the whole kill-people-because...

I do actually think Necromancy is necissarily evil, or at least perserve, since it takes unwilling bodies and souls and forces them to do your bidding. I'm not entirely sure how a pile of bones can be unwilling. Souls - perhaps, but read any collection of ghost stories and you'll find any number of...

I've thought a bit on what an undead campaign could be like. One of the main problems I see is the lack of personality in the units. The main character is pretty much limited to the adept line (or one of the nonstandard ones), and you don't get very interesting or talkative sidekicks from skeletons...

Re: Undead Campaign?

First of all, there aren't many unit levels to deal with, which may also be a blessing, since you're not always going to worry about losing your Champion The Undead have four units with a L3, (Draug, Soulshooter, Nightgaunt & Spectre, Lich & Dark Sorceror) and any number of special units already us...

*checks* Yeah, it's 1.1.1. The closest savefile I have is about a dozen turns before the bug showed up. (Sorry - should have gone back to the autosave when I saw this happen, but I wanted to test if Clone Kaleh showed up on the recall list in the next scenario). I'll see if I can replicate it, but g...

Another bug with the cloaked figure in Descending Into Darkness (don't you just love me?); in the 1.1 version. Cloaked figure pops out right next to L3 Kaleh on a cave floor, with a Ranger on the other side of him. Kaleh hands cloaked figure his ass, ranger backstabs to finish him. Cloaked figure sa...

*EDIT* Also, I don't know that looking at percentage of troop types is that informative, given that it needn't reflect the percentage of troop types in play . If he's up against a number of Fencers with this new ability, an undead player will know to respond by fielding (eg.) more Dark Adepts. It m...

I think it'd be a decent weapon special, if not too common. Would obviously have to be kept well away from certain other weapon specials (beserk, marksman, magical).

I agree that a faster healing rate for all > lvl1 units is undesirable, unless the difference was only a hitpoint or two. An 8/12/16 system would require massive rebalancing of campaigns; the AI is generally stupid about healing, so it'd mean a big rebalancing of most campaigns to make the later lev...

A good idea. It'd probably be a good deal more efficient if only the non-0% resistances were listed (in any easy-access listing). Also, what's the rationalisation for almost every unit having +20% vs. holy, rather than just making holy attacks weaker and undead holy resistance correspondingly lower?...

I loved UtBS too. It's quite conservative about its blueshields, too - there are pretty few characters who can't die (a maximum of four, if I recall correctly). Nym doesn't deserve a blueshield, though. Or rather, it'd make more sense if the story was modified a bit to give Nym a stronger role withi...

But the most of the difference in the difficulty killing a 170cm human wearing a bath robe vs a 185cm human with a shield and armor, when you are wielding a sword, comes from the armor and shield not from "HP" My initial reaction to this was: "Wesnoth is not meant to be realistic. In real life, the...

I'm getting a bug in the 1.1 version which makes all ranged attacks behave like melee attacks - troops without a ranged attack can retaliate against one. Graphics show a melee attack, but you hear the ranged-attack sound. Are you aware of this?

Well, we cannot please everyone. Strategically it is a bad idea anyway to lose a unit that comes with you for free, if you can help it. In say HttT, losing Delf means you do not learn who is the true HttT Delfador is a pretty much the primary example of a blueshield who genuinely deserves his statu...

Ugh. Yeah, as predicted, I'm now having serious trouble with ghosts in certain scenarios; notably The Manor in Escape to Freedom and Cave of Shadows in Survival. Both of these scenarios have no high-defence terrain, and limited-or-no ranged attacks; this combination really amplifies the effect of a ...
