Re: Oath of Allegiance [SP Desert People Campaign for 1.18.3]
After many years of not having played it, I recently played it again. It's a really great campaign - not quite as good as my all-time favourite To-Lands-Unknown, but the campaign has many great things. The unique abilities of the heroes are great fun, the wyverns are cool too, story great, artwork a ...

Re: Extra feature giveaway.
What is susfishious? A dead fish?
WML is quite hard to read for me. I wonder whether we could also describe
these data structures via a .yml file. I use simple .yml files, e. g. mostly
a simple Hash. This could work at the least for simple objects (I don't suggest
to use .yml for everything, just ...

[Quick idea] Player-set progression table for units (or at the least heroes)
To simplify this semi-random idea, let me say that I focus here only on hero units. We could focus on all units, but let's keep it simple.
With hero units I mean, e. g. that Delfador mage in the mainline campaign; or Konrad. So, usually units that are strong or useful, and losing them means loss of ...

Re: why do you show me a girl
Interesting. While I personally don't mind, it is indeed strange that a girl is
shown. One could also ask "why not show a dead animal instead" or any other
image people may object to (you can have a range of images different people
may object to). Not that I am one to object to most images per se ...

Re: Hardest campaing ever?
You mean only mainline campaigns? Because some add-ons I feel are much harder.
One of the hardest one to beat for me was in a dungeon where one had to use footpads to
soak up damage (or rather, dodge/evade) from trolls. I was not able to beat it;
other players did.

Re: An initiative for fair gaming
This is a little bit awkward in that many different aspects are grouped together.
For instance, I assume most everyone would assume that games should be interesting, fun - and also not unfair. What is fairness though?
Back when I was younger, playing oldschool text-based MUDs, people would ...

Re: Concerning Elvish Fighter sprites
That should be easy to adjust, shouldn't it? Perhaps wesnoth could have something for users to ad-hoc modify the timing delays. I have not been using XML since ages but in my own code I tend to simply use YAML files for most data configuration, and in YAML it is trivial. (I only do this for simple ...

Re: Longerm intent towards attack range.
Perhaps this could be done for larger siege units - ballista, catapults, something like that. Ideally it could be part of the mainline campaign because otherwise people may never make use of it. I think I only saw far range attacks in one scenario of an add-on if I remember correctly. Or perhaps it ...

I still sometimes play Baldur's Gate 2 with many mods installed. It may be a bit outdated
as of 2026 but playing mods is a lot of fun.

Re: Idea for an intermediate campain goal: Interlocked magical rings
I think as start for a campaign this is a nice idea.
I'd make the rings more powerful though - one more melee attack sounds nice on paper, but
imagine the hero has 8-4; changing this to 8-5 is of course good, but not necessarily great.
But these are mostly minor things.
What is missing is a ...

Mainline campaigns: play consecutively, from a new user's perspective, via UI hints?
So, wesnoth has many campaigns - some mainline, some add-ons maintained externally.
For instance, the recent 1.19.18 release shows these in this changelog:
https://github.com/wesnoth/wesnoth/blob/1.19.18/changelog.md
Such as "Dusk of Dawn", 4 scenarios, novice level, added recently as

Re: Chasing the Light — prequel to TRoW 1.18.3+
I started to play this campaign recently (did I already play it before? I am not sure). It seems fairly polished and
has a nice overall storyline, so I would say it is definitely above average.
I did, however had, quit early on in the campaign (the scenario) where some children have to
be rescued ...

Re: A Song of the Winds (prequel to The Dragon Trilogy, SP Campaign for 1.14 & 1.15)
I am struggling with the scenario Breath of the Earth. I rescued the young dwarf;
now I have to find the dwarf prince, probably dead. I can not find him. But I am
also kind of slowed down by both the troll and dwarf constantly sending new units.
Do they cheat or do they really have so much income ...
